VANOS orange dried residue around cover

Hey all. See pics attached. What is that orange-dark brownish dried up residue around the vanos cover?

It seems to have seeped out initially a while ago and just dried up in place. It seems to have seeped out at one point and trickled down the side a bit, it's not alot may a few ml/drops

Is this normal? Have not seen this on my other S54 cars. my MR is about 30k miles now. I'm sure if I cleaned it up, it would not seep out anymore than it already has.
