BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
USD 27,000.00

SOLD

This is the lowest price I've seen on a Coupe in the midwest, and this car is in better shape than most cars costing thousands more.

I've had a couple people come look at it, and all of them have commented on how well taken care of it is, especially the interior. If you're not local, I can either arrange to ship the car (at your expense), or pick you up at Detroit Metro Airport if necessary.

$27,000

I'm selling to buy either an E90 M3 or an E60 M5. I'm the 2nd owner, the dealer I bought it from was the same dealer that sold it new and serviced it since new. When I bought it in April 2012 it had 48,000 miles, and the dealer had put brand new OEM Continentals on it. Front pads and rotors were also new when I bought it, rears probably have another 10k miles on them. I'm pretty sure the car has never been tracked or smoked in.

Since I've owned it, I've changed the oil/filter once with the recommended Castrol oil, and replaced the battery just last week since I pulled it out of storage for the winter. As far as I can tell, it has never seen snow and it's bone stock. (The photos show black grilles, but I don't have those any more).

Overall, the car is in excellent condition, inside and out. I have about $700 worth of detailing equipment and products, and the paint is clayed/polished/sealed regularly, the wheels are removed for cleaning inside and out once a year, and the interior is vacuumed every couple weeks and the leather is cleaned/conditioned once a month.

I'm extremely anal about my cars, so in the interest of full disclosure, here's a list of every defect on the car compared to "as new". These are very minor issues, but I'm listing them here so there's no surprises if you travel a long distance to look at the car:
  • A few stone chips, like any car of this age would have. Some of these have been touched up by the PO.
  • A 1" scratch on the fender. It's through the clear, but not through the paint.
  • The wheels are in good shape, but there are minor scratches and chips in the paint if you get down and look close. Again, very normal for the year/mileage.
  • When I bought it, Carfax listed an accident from the PO. The dealer said it was hit in a parking lot and the rear bumper was repaired and one of the taillights was replaced. Normally I wouldn't buy an accident car, but I inspected it and couldn't find any issues with the paint, fitment, or under body. I saw the carfax via a link from the dealer's website, and didn't think to print it out at the time, so I don't have a copy.
These things haven't deterred me from enjoying this beast, and you shouldn't let them either. Everyone who has looked at the car has been very happy with the condition and appearance.

Don't drop the price. What sells this car is time, time to find the right buyer. You had it priced just right, lowing it won't help sell this car.

IMO, if you can't dedicate up to 6 month to sell this car, you probably shouldn't even try selling it at all.

Thanks for the comments. I can appreciate the sentiment of owners wanting to keep values up, I feel that the new price is more in line with the mileage and history.

Oooooh. Maybe you should tell us more about the history to bring such a low price.

He did. It's up there. Minor parking lot accident. Not sure it warrants a significantly lower sale price.

This. Nothing to see here. I'm also hoping for a quick sale so I can move on to the next toy . . .

Nice stable. Is your ZHP imola red, by chance?

As a matter of fact it is. My fiancé refuses to drive anything but a red BMW. She started with an E30 in high school.

Very nice. I have an imola ZHP as well. I normally hate red, but for some reason, IR looks great on the ZHP.

Very much agreed. ZHPs are great looking cars to start with and they wear Imola exceptionally well. I'm hoping to drive her car for many, many years as my daily after she's ready for something newer.

No warranty. M3's/M Coupes are pretty robust though.

Your ad is very detailed and up front about minor issues. That's great and it's the way I prefer to sell cars but I think that's what cost me a private sale on my SI coupe last year. My ad is on here and is, honestly, far too detailed about minor cosmetic issues that most people wouldn't notice within the first year of ownership. It's the kind of stuff that I'd want to know before buying a car from a distance - especially sight unseen or even before I traveled to see it. I was told my SI was perfect before I bought it and, from my ad, you can tell it wasn't as I sold it in the same or better condition as when I purchased it. Anyway, I've learned from selling a few cars it seems best to leave the minor cosmetic issues for the first phone call or email. They seem to scare everyone away when mentioned up front. That said, your car looks and sounds excellent and I hope the right buyer who appreciates an up front seller pops up soon. Good luck!
