Shooting washer fluid on dead bugs doesnt make it worse.
Then going over it with a wiper makes it worse cause then only it smears.
thats why headlights dont have wipers anymore but still have washer jets

Dang. I thought it was blinker fluid. ;-)

Headlight washers are mandatory in European countries for headlights emitting more than 2000 lumens.

I removed the bumper and found the washer unit itself (not sure the name, sorry) was leaking. I capped the tubing from the reservoir to both headlight washers and leak is fixed for now.

You should also pull the fuse. There is some sort of algorithm (# of windshield washes, time elapsed, etc....) that will kick off and the car will automatically try to spritz the headlights. If you've got it all plugged up and the secondary pump (just for the headlight washers) kicks off who knows what will happen/blow.

Fuse #40 per this post:
