^that is comprehensive indeed. i'm not even familiar with 'ejector units stuck', which is referring to what may i ask?
perhaps u can also cross check, at least for interlagos blue metallic, that the factory paint does NOT in fact cover 100% of the front side fenders. you WILL notice the portion where the fenders are fastened to the frame a 'line' of blue over what appears to be black primer. this is normal and consistent afaik for interlagos blue. i do know that alpine white is the complete opposite, where u SHOULD expect the side fenders to be 100% painted. also, make sure the central locking system functions as there have been a couple of examples where the actuators fail to properly unlock the car. u will also want to ascertain the correct amount of oil (5.5 liters) is in the engine as these are often overfilled, be it at dealerships or otherwise. |

That's a terrible thing to be stuck. You'd think they would have redundant explosive charges for when the first one didn't eject you. When I need to bail at 155 mph, I need to bail. Obviously, there are explosive bolts on the roof as well. They've seen Top Gun and they don't want to repeat what happened to Goose.

We should make a checklist form for prospective buyers. That might be rather useful....hmm did I just volunteer ...

The first jet I flew actually had det cord in the canopy to shatter it. I didn't know if I should be more nervous about the rocket engine under my butt or the det cord exploding in my face.

^that's the canopy fracturing system - cfs. had a friend of mine who had the cfs activate on the ground while closing the canopy. he has permanent superficial scars all across both arms, as the blast tore right through the flight suit material. it was that substantial. does make me feel uneasy if i ever have to use the system, but it does work as advertised?

I knew a few people that had their visors up when they punched out (takeoff at sunset, land at night). Lead in their eyes, scars all over their faces. Better than becoming a smoking hole I guess. That was back in Kingsville, not too far from you. All I can say is I was happy when I moved up to a twin-engined jet that wouldn't go down from a birdstrike. LOX instead of OBOGS, no det cord, twin engines =
OP - you'll also want to feel around the edges of each of the body panels. If they are rough the car may have been repainted following an accident. |
