That seems excessive for a muffler shop. Anyways lesson learned to be extra careful in the future.

My daughter got me a dashcam for Christmas. Now I need to figure out how to wire it up. Into the map lights? All the way down to the fuse box?

I replaced the OE bulb in the front fender side markers, with an amber LED bulb.

They remain illuminated while the ignition is on, but probably at 15% intensity of the flashing level of light. They remain lit for 3-4 minutes after the ignition is switched off, and even after the interior courtesy lights have switched off. I didn't expect this lingering delay, but its not a concern for me.

FYI....
I also did this, but after a few days, week or two, my car rejected them.

My dashboard stopped working. Lights turned off inside.

I immediately knew it had to be the Turn Signal lights I had replaced.

Weird glitches... as soon as I replaced them with the OEM halogen bulb, everything worked totally fine.

That was a Weird night. These cars are very finicky

That's interesting. Did you replace all turn signal bulbs, or just the 2 on the front fender as I did?

Regardless of fancy German-sounding brand name, they probably all come off the same assembly line in China - built right next to M-80's and various brands of firecrackers.

I've already put the original bulbs in the glove compartment, in case I experience the same result.

Thanks for your input.

The “hamburgers” aren’t’ monitored.
I’ve had aftermarket Chinese white LEDs in mine for at least 4 years. Not "error free".
I have the same “hamburger glow” any time the car is “awake”. Kinda’ like it.

After the section 1 debacle, I got things straightened out a bit. Edge is willing to help clean things up on the section 1 to make it look cleaner. The muffler shop was not very willing to help, nor am I confident they would do a good job fixing it up.

In the meantime, I was able to finally get the headers installed!! [install credit goes to Ray @skweakykleen he also has a sick turbo 750hp LSB E46 M3]. I went with CPI since euro's weren't available used during the holidays, and the ones I originally got by MK-Motorsport for a e46 m3 didn't fit, even though MK-Motorsport had confirmed they would fit on the Z. (They didn't clear the engine mounts.)

I was really impressed with the quality of the CPI headers for the price and they fit like a glove(erm...header). Didn't get much seat time after the install, but first impressions seem pretty good.

There are some pics of them installed at the end of the post.

Was going to do CSL intake or an exhaust next but with the new draconian CA exhaust laws, I'll probably wait and pray that one of the petitions successfully repeal the new law.

Anyways belated HAPPY NEW YEAR Z FAM!

I also installed a new battery in my Z4M as well.

I wasn't aware there was a new exhaust law but here it is for the people who missed it.

https://bar.ca.gov/Consumer/Referee_...ification.html

Quote:
California law requires that all vehicles must be equipped with an adequate muffler to prevent excessive noise from the exhaust system. It also prohibits the operation of a passenger vehicle (other than a motorcycle), or a truck with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of less than 6,000 pounds, that has an exhaust noise level greater than 95 decibels, when tested under specified conditions.

If you have been issued a citation for operating a vehicle in violation of Vehicle Code Section 27150 or 27151, you must take your vehicle to a state Referee Center.

Note: The Referee is only authorized to inspect and certify passenger cars and trucks under 6,000 GVWR that have been cited for a violation of Section 27150 or 27151 of the Vehicle Code. The maximum decibel level applies only to those vehicles. Citations issued to other vehicles (motorcycles, trucks exceeding 5999 pounds GVWR) are not part of this program. Check with the agency that issued the citation, and/or the court, to find out how to show proof of correction for these other vehicles.

Well, it wasn't this week, but last month I replaced all four tires on my 2006 Z4 M Roadster with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and also got a front end alignment because I had some pretty severe wear on the inside of the RF tire which I hadn't noticed.

I also proactively had the upper and lower coolant hoses replaced because those were bulging at the ends, and had the rubber drive belts replaced because they were showing cracks.

Nothing for the Z because I pulled this 6.0 Powerstroke diesel out of my F350 to make some repairs.
