Alex's Z4 to Z4M Rear End Conversion

Hello all! Just completed my rear end conversion..including exhaust..

enjoy!

so naked..

Z4M bumper came and finished painting. Test fitted

Another test fit with the taillights. At this time I was debating if I should use these tails or not, but the gap between the taillight and bumper was too big for me

Z4M X Pipe + S Pipe came! saved alot on ebay..

Taillights came and finally covered the gaping battery hole.

Put it all together

Now time for the shop.
Out with the old...

In with the new...

Welded tips

and VOILA

Still some small bits I need to get such as battery box and heat shield for the right side.

Was it difficult to reroute the battery wiring? or are all cables long enough for the z4m location of the battery?
And the amplifier wiring (I see you have the dsp amp). Are you relocating that to the z4m battery harnass as well?
I also see you have the digital interlink in your amp. Do you have hifi DSP with navigation (large screen) or without?

And your evap charcoal container. Did you relocate that also or not?

Do you have more pictures?

The mufflerless oem twin I had prior was louder. Theres a much deeper tone with this setup. I was expecting a louder setup, but it wasn't as loud as I'd thought.

I routed the battery cable through firewall hole that was already there. The DSP cable is not long enough so I have it just sitting on the side for now until I figure out a way to mount it (I do have it connected and working). I do not have a navigation screen

Evap charcoal filter was removed. I'll provide more pics once I clean it up a bit.

But actually that is very interesting. A lot of hifi DSP systems dont have a digital link between the cd changer and the amp. They use an analog connector. I think those are all systems with navigation, and the ones without navi have a digital link between changer and amp.
I dont know what's better, as I think the DSP function (graphic eq and room/echo) is done totally analog. There isn't much digital processing power in the amp, and digitally controlled analog graphic eq chips are simple and abundant.
Maybe it has something to do with that navigation has to do voice directions while music is playing or so and that goes through the headunit.

Can you tell me if you did any work with the Tailights harness wise to get them to work as I see you had the older tailights. From what I understand their is some re-pinning that needs to be done and we are now using a 12V lead from the license plate lamp to power the new tailights. Can you send a picture of your harness if repinned to Alex13j1993@gmail.com. Trying to get this done this week if possible.

Did you still have the write up for this? I would like to get this done

Hello. I can't see the pictures you posted but I imagine it came out great. I was wondering if you still had the write up and picture for this conversion? I'm on a quest to install dual exhaust with quad tips.
