White dipped wheels on IB

I'm finally back in the US! Decided to try plasti-dipping my wheels to see how it would look on my interlagos blue M roadster. I actually really like how it looks, but I had some issues painting and mounting them back on the car so it didn't turn out very awesome up close. I ended up needing one more can to get a really solid finish done. I used 4 cans total doing both the inside and face of the wheels and an extra can of clear. If I did this again I would put my space lug bolts in the holes and remove them when I finish painting and the paint is still wet. My biggest issue was when mounting the wheels the lug bolts gripped a bit of paint and instead of cutting the paint it pulled and twisted the paint pulling it off of the recess for the bolts. Trying to cut the areas where this would happen didn't help too much either as even razors pulled more than they cut. I think part of the problem was I wasn't able to properly clean the wheels before painting since I was at the base hobby shop and they weren't happy about me painting anyways.

I'm trying to post this from my phone so photos may not post right

covering the beautiful brushed finish with rubber spray just seems wrong to me. also cleaning up all the brake dust from white plastidip will be a challenge. i say peel it off, or get them redone in white powdercoat if thats what u like better

I see what you are trying to do with the blue & white
, but I'm not sure it really works with the tan roof.

This was more of an experiment than anything. I'm taking a little road trip to tail of the dragon on my way from North Carolina to Maryland next week. After that I will most likely peel it all off when I do a full detail. So far the brake dust is a little annoying but unless if you're right up on them you can't really see it. It also seems to wipe off easily. Once I get back home I might look into powder coating. My wheels aren't brushed either, I had them refinished from the polished look they had before and they actually look painted. I would love to get them refinished brushed but that costs a ton of money.

Interlagos Blau is my favorite E85 M Roadster color.

The white plastidip by virtue of adding a third exterior color is off balance aesthetically to my eye.

Love the white on blue, but! thats gonna be a nightmare to keep clean, everything will show on it.

Even curb rash will stand out.

How does the plastidip hold up to washing?

Well here is what they look like after 1200 miles of road trip.

Front

Rear

After cleaning them by hand. Tried just using wheel cleaner and a pressure washer, but had to use a sponge when I got home.
