I have seen this car in another video. It was years ago. This is a much better video. I always wondered why BMW didn't do another M version with the M3's V8 in the second gen Z4.

More than likely because this would have made the E89 V8 M Coupe faster than the bigger heavier E92 M3, and unlike Porsche, instead of making the theoretical E89 M Coupe slower and sell it anyways, they just didn't bother

Also, E89 M Coupe demand is likely so small it made no financial sense

I don't think the E85/86 M version made sense financially either (the z4 has never been a big seller for BMW) and it was also quicker than the M3 due to lower weight, but that didn't stop them in 2006. I wish they had gone ahead and done a real M version of the E89 rather than the M badge happy 3.5is....

Hadn't even thought of that but yes if they made it a strong handler with that S65 V8 it would have been an amazing contender. Not sure how I feel about soft top vs hard top; each has their advantages but at this price point I imagine it would add too much weight and take away from the overall experience.
