Big fat coyote VS my Z4

I hate over-the-road driving at night for this reason, but I had no choice this time. In the middle of nowhere, with no car lights in the distance anywhere, pitch dark out, I spotted a coyote coming from the right side of the road on this two lane road. He was hauling ass from what I was able to see. He popped out from the side close enough for me to just firmly grab my steering wheel with both hands and brace for impact. I didn't try swerving or slamming the brakes as I was driving at speed limit (75). Hit the coyote and I instantly felt bad. Pulled over to check how much paint came off my front bumper. My driver's side bumper was actually GONE, as well as the air temperature sensor (in cabin now reads -40), and the brake air duct along with some plastic trim. I'm going to file an insurance claim, I just hope I have comprehensive coverage because this is easily going to take over $1,500 to repair. Anything else I may be missing there?

I'd also try and fight for diminished value from the accident because of how rare our cars are.

Glad you are okay!

Edit: I thought you hit a Ford Mustang with the 5.0 Coyote not an actual coyote 🙃

Since the bumper cover will likely have to be replaced, opt have them not re-install the headlight washer mechanisms and related plumbing (unless you actually use this of course). It makes re-installation of the bumper cover significantly easier.

I'd have the LF suspension thoroughly checked out. I assume you ran over the creature...

Had a guy show up for work in a pick up truck one morning, steam pouring out of the front. He had hit a coyote on the way in and we found a leg sticking through the radiator.

Maybe RossBMWZseries' recent accident was an act of revenge by the three-legged coyote who was hit by your buddy's pick-up.

Glad your okay Ross,

That coyote must have taken a decent hit mate, new bumper, paint. Doesn't look too bad. Good opportunity to mount and extra oil cooler in there too

But seriously, glad your okay mate

Oi! Sorry to hear it given all the work you've done on your car. Glad you're okay, though.

I used to drive 8-10 miles each way through rich, horse person country on my old commute. There was a lot of money in that town and they liked keeping a main road as a 2-lane country-esque road (nevermind the heavy traffic from everyone that moved far West during the housing boom). At night, although I liked the drive I also hated it since it was pitch black and heavily wooded in parts w/ open fields in others.....and I knew there were lots of deer out and about.

That's not going to happen. It's a comprehensive claim. No offense to the OP, but his car is pretty much a ratrod (which is cool in my book).

Thank guys. After 3 long weeks, I finally got my car back. Had the reflectors and grills painted black sapphire metallic. All parts were replaced including the fender liner, brake duct, and the temperature sensor (I think that’s what it’s called, not sure). After I left the shop, I noticed my cluster was completely shut off; no lights, no RPM needle or MPH moving at all, can’t even tell how much gas I have left in the tank. Also, my windows aren’t working. My guess is the shop may have accidentally unplugged something..?

Aye. I hate stuff like that. Way too common coming out of a body shop. Not sure what might be going on but hopefully it turns out to be a simple fix.

My car finally goes into the shop for the BST replacement on Tuesday. It's also been down for 3 weeks. Will be SO happy to have it on the road again.

Thanks Kevin. I got home and unplugged the battery, took out the LCM and cluster to clean both out. Plugged everything back in and the cluster came back to life, all needles working properly. However, my passenger window was able to roll down, but didn't come back up.

My driver's side window regulator went out a day before I dropped off the car at the shop so that definitely needs replacement. As for the passenger, the regulator works fine but I don't hear the motor making any noise. I hope it's not the motor. I'll check the fuse it take it from there.

Good luck with the BST!

Battery Safety Terminal, aka "not supposed to blow for no reason and strand you here, but just did" cable, and unobtainium in the USA and had to wait 2 weeks for one from Germany.
