Hmm, Oem dash has been put in its box, wont be needing that as my race dash arrived (after 5 months.. lol)
You'll also note my new workbench (my mate who got let go (nearly all of my mates got let go) couldent sell his laundry fitout, so I took it over and repurposed it as my work bench) Comes in at 1.98kgs or 4.3 lbs. Prob lighter than that in the end as I'll need to trim it to fit. Pretty stoked with it. Well worth the wait. For those of you with keen eyes, you'll note it's an E30 race dash.. yep.. that's right. Only choice I had was either E36 or E30, the E36 looking super dated.. the e86 race dash came in at nearly 11 times the price of this one as no stock so would have to custom make. Hmm, I'll just grab the E30 one thanks very much.. and then this shit went down... Thx Jesse Looks like the Vac race box will be up for grabs... .... .. after a huge hangover ... Found a huge divot in my slush fund... .. fark ...!!! https://www.vividracing.com/ESS-Tuni...151253451.html

Wowie Vanne!!!!
So much to take in - so much progress; you didn't mention that you were keeping your air conditioning and heated seats....ONLY KIDDING!!!! Such a build....can't wait to see the totalized weight reduction data....it's going to be crazy-light; and then the final weight to horsepower (KW) ratios too. Will the zebra striped cowboy hat fit in your new race seat?? This is an incredible build.

Lol yeah guibo.. weird name.. lol
Bit of further stuff... I woke up late, back from Zurich and headed down to the shop, after dropping the kids off at school and got stuck into the front DTM arms. Nothing is ever simple.. Strugeled with a part for a while and had to make a sleeve for a bolt as I wasn't happy with how they had designed this particular part of how the bolt was secured. It's not the circled bolt, I circled that as I think this part is for preventing rotational torque of the mount against the frame, but I can't see how that bit fits together, so before modifying anything I'll ask the DTM kit designer what the purpose of that circled bolt is. It's also possible that this bolt is meant for the E46 M3 as that frame is slightly different at the front. My car will be the first z4m that this kit has been designed for, so there are a couple of changes expected. So far I am very happy with the quality, strength and design of this kit. Sorry about the large amount of pics, but I need to be sure about any modification made to the kit, to make sure that it will be safe and performs as expeted The issue with the bolt/insert, I think will be sorted with a slightly larger piece of metal that I'll probably weld in place, thus securing the mount in 3 dimensions. Up, down and lateral.

IMO, the MRT kit is the better kit. I don’t like that the AKG kit puts the inner ball joint and the fcab ball in single sheer (the bolt is not supported on both sides of the bearing). The MRT kit solves this, but does require more fabrication to install (welding). I’m not sure, but it doesn’t look like the AKG kit addresses the longitudinal load at the fcab location.

Yeah Mikko responded within 3 hours of me emailing him (hes laid up in bed, broken leg), and the contacted me via whatapp. your correct, that mount takes a lateral load, so we welded a huge plate in on the mount and its now secured by 2 bolts (so 4 total) on the side as well and fits completely sung against the frame, so there is no room for any lateral movement. . I thought that would be better and its definitively a much more robust solution. top marks for MRT's Mikko in working with us to solve any issues. Lucky i have access to a machine shop. There are other bits of the kit we've improved upon, mainly to do with sleeves and colers, but yeah pretty impressed with the kit so far.. I test fitted the front wheels today..... its wide... long day at the shop... ************************************************** *********** (while were waiting for the 4 bearings that are being sent to Alex's place ************************************************** *********** Dropped the diff of at Gear Masters Dubai to get that sorted. Pulled the airbox/TB's/Oil pump/ oil cooler... Removed the fuel rail , secondary water pump and a bunch of other crap. tomorrows task.. carb cleaner.. and clean the whole frikking thing.. if i have time, we might pull the brake master and clutch .. dead.. going to bed...

So I tackled a few things today...
BMW Motorsport thermostat and oil divertor delete. Removed... Divertor valve in place. An10 oil line adaptor in place. And then this puppy... (Thx Alex!) Dinan S54 Throttle bodies. 2mm oversize. This is versus OEM. Doesn't look like much, but it is. And then we did this.. still needs a huge cleanup though.. That subframe needs a hellova clean.. add it to the list. And these are going in the bin.. And bit of surface rust work Ready for turner monoball bearings. So even though we did jack shit today, I still did a bit.

I do.... screen name is e86s54
Yes sir... technically these ones raise the subframe closer to the chassis. The raising part might not have done anything and most of what I am feeling might be just from going from rubber to solid bushings. Overall the rear end gives me much clearer information when its on the limit and I can more easily feel where the limit of grip is.

The excitement is starting to build! Are you going with ESS for the tune or someone custom?
