Well, this is not good; a freak surge....wowie - how close was the Z4 parked to the water? Regardless, a total loss is not good.

Weird details in the article "Also in the car, that cost him £5,000, was a Barbour jacket, a jumper from Topman, and Asics running shoes, costing around £200 in total"

Also, getting insurance the day before and then saying "This isn't an insurance scam" smells fishy. Pun intended.

I thought the same thing. He also said that he doubted that his insurer would pay out. Almost makes you wonder if he didn't go to a thrift shop and spend a few bucks on things he could leave in the car, as opposed to taking everything out of the car, trying to remove possible doubt if it were actually an insurance scam. You're right, the whole article sounds "fishy"!
