I personally like the TE's more than the G2's. But I'm biased. I have a TE/LE stable at home

One day I'll put my SC back on, is the vt1 the non intercooled vortech one? I would meth it.

I want vt3 but there's no way in hell I'm going to rebuy the kit.

I truly enjoy and learn from reading this journal.
Thank You very much for taking the time to do this excellent write up.

Looking at your pics, ride height and setup, I am both impressed and puzzled on how your front tires (at ET35, with 245/40/18) don't rub the bumper liner.
My setup with the same KW CS set at 23-1/2" height (from bottom wheel to fender line), the front 245/40/18 ET38 rubbed slightly during transition from oval bank to flat surface. My rear setup with 275/35/18 ET25 has no issue.

So, my solution is to replace front with 245/35 and will be testing it on the track this weekend.
The 245/35/18 smaller diameter creates more spacing between the tires and liner therefore it doesn't look as "slammed".

I didn't have a problem with et 35 w/ 255s on the street, I only rubbed like that when I used the 255 Rcomps on et 30 (heavy braking force).

I don't see how the hell he fit an et 22 275/35, I tired that fitment and decided it couldn't;t even work stock (that's with starspecs though which are wider then normal 275s)

Yep, the vt1 is the non intercooled vortech one.

I am not familiar with what you mean by "meth it." I assume it relates to power?

Your camber and caster settings will help with the front rubbing issue. I know from our previous conversations that you have been play with the camber adjustments. Have you tried adjusting you caster? I have mine pulled back toward the cabin, so as the suspension compresses the wheels is drawn away from the area you are rubbing. I have a color print out of my last alignment that I can post with all of my settings. I can post this next week when I am back in the office with a scanner.

He means methanol injection. Yup you're right, it has to do with power: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=937176

It means spraying atomized methanol into your intake piping under boost, it makes for an increase in effective octane, ESPECIALLY on a non intercooled car. ESS would have a hissy fit if they knew you were doing it though and I wouldn't actually recommend it unless done by someone who really knows what they are doing and can monitor your timing and knock-control to insure even distribution.

A vague guess that really has no accuracy would say you could get 10-30HP from it, possibly a bit more.

why would ESS mind a water/meth kit? I thought it's essentially the safest and best single item one could run on a supercharged application (especially the vt1 being non-intercooled)?
It cools the intake charge, increases octane and steam cleans your internals keeping them virtually like new. We had one on virtually every Vortech system with the LX crowd. Is the ESS version that much different?

They don't want people messing with their kit, plain and simple. Which is understandable, people start messing with things it makes diagnosing harder or they might make problems or break stuff.

Like lets say you had a misfire, you try to diagnose it with them and go through tons of tuff only to find out you're spraying too much methanol causing the misfire (it can happen).

But yea it's pretty safe.

Thanks for the explanation. It sounds very efficient. I wonder if ESS would consider adding this to their kits.

They are very much anti methanol from the brief talks I've had with them.

Did they ever fix that issue where the car would just cut out at high speed and the ABS light would come on? I'm going ton reinstall the SC soon and was wondering because my car did it too.

-I think so, but I don't know so. Confused? I'll explain...The kit has exhibited two problems, both of which exist only in the context of hard track driving. One is overheating - if driven hard enough and somewhat dependent on the track as well. The other is a triggering of limp mode that seems related to engine heat. IE: The car will limp under certain rare, but repeatable, throttle loadings once the oil temp has gotten over 265F.

Since both situations need remedy the thought was to tackle the cooling system first. Bring the temps down and by extension the limp mode issue will go away. One customer replaced his thermostat and oil diverter with racing units and that fixed his problem. But I don't know yet if the tracks he drives on offer the same engine loading as the ones I drive on. I've installed Bimmerworld's replacement oil diverter, but not the cooler thermostat. From what I've been able to find out the BMW Motorsport thermostat doesn't flow more that the street version, so it wouldn't increase system efficiency. It just makes the engine start at a lower temperature, which in my case would only help for 1-2 laps.

ESS has a new oil cooler configuration that its testing out in another customer's MC. The new unit is slightly larger and is located behind the driver-side brake duct (which is mostly unused in our street cars). If the diverter valve doesn't cool things off enough I may go with the new cooler system. I am also considering fabricating an aluminum air guide for my existing oil cooler, so that its hot air exits below the radiator instead of straight into it.

mine did it when the temperatures were not elevated, simply at high speeds.
