Headers Dilemma

Hello all,

New BMW Z4M coupe owner here. My car is very close to stock (AFE intake and stromung mufflers) and I love the way it sounds. But it is a bit quiet and I'd like to explore header options.


Of course, this has been discussed a million times but I feel like I haven't quite found the information I'm looking for. Here's generally what I want:

1). Price-wise Im looking to be sub 1.5k USD. Maybe i'll stretch if there's a header that fits my criteria

2) A lot of the headers I've noticed are super raspy - my exhaust is stock (except for mufflers) so I don't know how that will work. I'd like to not have my car sound like a Honda and am not exactly sure how I can mitigate that with my setup

3). So far, I've considered Status Gruppe (which seems alright??), CPI headers (which from what I've heard sound kinda raspy). Supersprint seems great but the prices are utterly insane (for what I can afford).

It's a shame that Megan isn't still producing it's S54 header, it was virtually identical to headers costing 4x as much. I guess the market dried up.
You know there is nothing wrong with the stock Euro header and the NA header can be modified easily enough by cutting the cats off and replacing them with straight pipe.

If you can't afford the Supersprint headers you might as well go for the Euro S54 headers, they are very good and are not that much worse than Supersprint. But if you really want to get the most HP out of your S54 the Supersprints are the way to go.
