Valve adjustment not called out in service manual?

New to Z4MR here. Just picked up my car with 36K on the odometer. Records were not complete on the car so I'm planning on bringing in for full fluid replacement and plugs. I checked the service manual and there is no reference at all to valve adjustment for either S1 or S2. It's a 2007. Did BMW recommend early on in the S54 life cycle and then stop recommending it?

Read your service schedule more carefully. Valve adjustment is under inspection I => https://www.billswebspace.com/200708...eChecklist.pdf

Interesting. Here are pics from my service manual. No sign of valve adjustment. The pics you attached look to be from a dealers worksheet.

I stand corrected. You're absolutely correct - I had just scanned through my service booklet just a few minutes ago and it's exactly the same as what you've posted - no mentioned of valve adjustments at all. I had always referred to that referenced document and had totally forgot that it wasn't part of the service booklet.

While it's not in the service booklet bmw dealers definitely do valve adjustments on Z4Ms every 30k miles as part of Inspection I. Whatever documentation the dealerships have must say it's required. Mine is an 07 and had the 30k mile and 60k mile adjustments done under previous owners at the dealer.

That said the dealer that worked on my car didn't do a good job and when I had a very well known S54 tech do my vanos replacement he checked the valve clearances and several were out of spec.
