I bought my steering wheel new in 2020 for $550 which included the buttons. It made way more sense to do that and then sell my used steering wheel to recoup some of the cost.

Looks like the steering wheel is up to $920 now https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...el-32307836820

If you must have brand new trims then honestly it still makes sense to just buy the whole unit and then sell your current wheel for a few hundred bucks. Otherwise the economical choice is to retrim by Royal Steering Wheels, and then restore your trims which I've seen can be done by stripping the soft touch coating and spray painting it matte black.

Thanks for the timely bump of this thread. My new-to-me 125K mile steering wheel needs retrimmed. I am going the royal wheel route.

I've been in contact with Royal wheel and since I'm going to England this summer, they said I can take my wheel with me and they'll do it while I'm in country!

Amazon Steering Wheel Wrap

Reviving an old thread here. Took a chance on a $30 steering wheel wrap on Amazon and didn't have much hope of it working out well. It turned out better than I anticipated and would recommend to anyone who doesn't want to spend hundreds of dollars. Do yourself a favor and remove the wheel from the car and pull off all the trim before wrapping - I can see this going sideways real quick otherwise.

I bought these...

...and this to repaint around the switches (use rubbing alcohol to remove all the old coating)

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0833CJY2Y...roduct_details

...and it looks like this.

not bad.
