SCCA and NASA have more lax rules when it comes to convertibles. You can find more information on their websites. Also some of the smaller groups like MVP, ReZoom, JZilla, etc. allow convertibles.

IMO, I'd be careful bringing a convertible to the track. In a roll-over scenario, you're a goner regardless of the safety equipment from the factory.


Oh, and this is my car. I'm "I Love BMWs" son and I just picked up my M Roadster as of 2 weeks ago. I live on the south side of Buckhead but work up in Dunwoody. Sorry that it's dirty in the photo, we drove it 1200 miles from Boston to it's place of birth.

Hi guys - I am planning a move back to Atlanta from Hoboken, NJ (where I currently live). I will be bringing my Beauty & Beast with me, 2006 Z4 M Roadster. The issue with the convertibles at track events is the track insurance for the club. The current cost of track events is $399 for members which is pretty cheap. In the past, I was a member at both the Porsche and the Ferrari clubs. Their track events would only let you run in lower C level and did not allow for passing.

They are a bit more expensive, register with http://www.motorsportreg.com/ and youc an see all the events near you. By the way the Peachtree Chapter was at Roebling Rd a few weeks back in Savannah and that track is a blast. The next event is at Road Atlanta in September and if you want to just reach out and I am sure we can get you riding shotgun with one of the instructors.

Hmmmmm... Might make it to this one. Missed this last meet y'all had but for now I don't have anything planned on August 21... Lol, might give me a little motivation to get my car dolled up (Still has battle scars from the 4 months I had to use it as a daily for my Atlanta commute )

I was actually parked right next to you at the last meet. I had met you before at the Peachtree BMWCCA HPDE in March also. Here are a few photos from the last meet...







I tend to attend all of the Peachtree BMW social events and HPDEs. Although at the HPDEs/races you can find me driving this instead of the M roadster...


If you guys decide to do any meets outside of BMWCCA PM me and I'm likely to attend. I just don't check the forum all that often.

Hi guys - made it to Atlanta last week after an epic road trip from Hoboken, NJ. 1,160 miles with only about 75 of those miles on interstates. Mostly drove on back country roads and through the mountains. What an amazing experience. I thought I was in love with this car before the road trip.... now I just feel extremely blessed to have the pleasure of owning her.

When's the next meet up? Would love to meet other M Roadster/Coupe owners. I've signed up for the October JZilla trackday at Road Atlanta. Any one else joining?

I am a new member. I live in Jefferson, about 50 miles northeast of downtown, but I am in Atlanta quite often. My daughter lives in Roswell. I am always interested in seeing other Z's, and will probably begin attending the Caffeine and Octane events. Mine is an Imola Red 2008 M Roadster.

Z4 ATL guys, just wanted to drop a note to say I know a shop that will relocate the convertible pump to the trunk for a very fair price. It's Lins Automotive in Lawrenceville, if anybody needs a number just PM me or google Lins. Highly recommended!
