Today, i've done a carbon covering of the steering wheel which was severely scratched.

Was harder than I thought and I'm not entirely satisfied with the result but will be enough for this summer.

I may end up painting the spokes in piano black this winter so I sanded down the spokes using 180 then 400 grit + water.

Got the car back today, took a lot more time than the week in vacation but the weather was stormy so no problem on my side.

The car is not much lower but I think the stance is perfect not to scratch everywhere. The ride is nice and smooth which led me to think the original suspensions were shot (@100000miles, seems normal) so I don't have a very good point of comparison. The car is very planted, a lot less harsh on small bumps, and very predictable.

The brakes on the other side ... everything was changed new calipers, lines, rotors, wheels hubs and calipers supports sanded and repainted... My mechanic advised that the brakes are breaking in, it is right ! They will have to bed in to give a good feedback. Now the attack is weak but he said a few hundred miles and it will be good, better than stock. I think the rotors looks quite cool with the grooves.

My mechanic will send me pictures of the conversion soon.

Some pics of the work done, being a english daily driver, the car needed some work and my mechanic delivered !

old parts :

replacement : struts, springs, bump stops, top, discs, calipers springs, lines, higher class than OEm but not too extreme (budget constrains)

Severe rust on original parts :

Caliper brackets sanded and repainted with high quality caliper paint, same for the wheels bolts:

Spindles sanded and treated with antirust black:

Finished work, hats off to my man

Some news

discovered last week that the car had still its crash emergency kit located under the passenger seat in a black box with a green cross. It is a nice feature, the complete surgeon kit which was the intended customer it seems

only sterile until 2010 bit who cares

Had a big fear too because my roof stopped working, I immediately think I need a new motor, fu** but there was no sound at all and a amber light. A litte internet search reassured me , the shop broke my microswitch when replacing the rear shocks. I found the switch in the boot laying around.

Save this link it may be useful, once repaired, the roof worked like a charm.
https://www.bmwrepairguide.com/bmw-e...switch-repair/

Today I used a black friday deal to buy the full scorpion exhaust, will come in 15 days I'm super exited, looks good, will make a nice sound but not obnoxious at all. It is a full exhaust catback for the price of a supersprint rear silencer only, made in UK.

Saw them in person last week, it sealed the deal, it is solid and high quality, no shiny thin metal but industrial pipes.

Photos from them.

I'd have some small concern that the rear stiffening plate has to be cut to get the exhaust to fit. The mod takes a good section of the plate out.

Otherwise, the car looks great! I hope you are enjoying it!

Car is at the shop, he will have to cut the stock exhaust, too much rust.

FYI no need to cut the under plate, it has this non symmetrical shape from fractory.

He quoted me 2 hours bacause of additional work, we found a broken rear sway bar end link too (rear right), so he will replace it.

I may get it back later in the week or this week-end.

Exhaust is done but we have a problem, two codes show up which are p0036 and p0056 problem with the second downstream lambdas. Maybe the car doesn't like the freer exhaust.

We will havee to find the problem in the next weeks because we haven't touched the catalysts. Car runs totally good thought just this annoying EML.

Will see if the car adapts, a remapping for E85 fuel is sheduled in the next month so we will go in depth and will find if we have to change the lambdas.

Flexfuel e85 conversion is done, made 255hp now 272, 40% less Co2, but due to Covid19 pandemia and France lock down won't be able to get it back anytime soon (1 month minimum !).

Big maintenance coming because the car has started not running right on ethanol,

went with :
2 new post cat lambdas (denso, better quality than bosch)

2 new pre cat lambdas (bosch)
1 new accessory belt (bosch)
1 new thermostat (mahle behr)

6 new coils (delphi) -> coming

1 new electric water pump (pierburg) -> coming

car is being worked and I hope this maintenance will make it run right.

At least starting with new parts makes it ready for a few miles now .
