And FYI if you did not install them yourself you probably don't know, but you probably have an O2 sensor SHOVED into your transmission housing (on the e46 anyway, haven't put a set on any Z4s) unless your shop was nice enough to take the extra time to cut the bung in half. Not to mention that you have to physically pound them onto the studs of the block to just get the flanges to fit and then muscle the outlet flanges together to get them to fit into the stock exhaust.

And a new one I experienced with the last set that came through, the idiots laid such a thick weld on cylinder 6 that the nut would not thread onto the studs, the only way to use them was to grind down a nut to clear the weld.

That's why we charge extra to install them and don't really warranty the work.

Oh did I mention the gaskets are HIGHLY prone to failure?

Having the stock exhaust pushing out against the tips of the headers causing unneeded stress on the head bolts I consider a problem. Having to either grind down a weld or a nut, a problem (major reduced clamping force). Having to chop an O2 bung in half and only being able to put o2s in two of the bungs leaving you no place to put a wideband. A Problem.

Sorry, I also forgot to mention that the walls of the ebay headers are less than half as thick as SS or AA headers which mean they make your exhaust sound like crap. That's actually where a lot of the e46 rasp comes from, and make no mistake of this as a joke.

But some people think if they fit and "work" then there is no problem and they are happy.

I originally planned on ebay headers too, then I installed and heard a few of each and quickly changed my mind.
to me part of taking on a new bolt on mod is the initial inspection of it. if there are any doubts as to fitment or build quality, i would immediately have sent them back. i inspected all the welds myself. i work in construction and i know what a bad, sloppy weld looks like, and that was absent. take a look at my mods, not only did i buy a 57K$ car, b ut i then spent close to 20k$ modding it this year. I'm not one to pinch pennies on this sort of thing, but paying 3 grand for a part that is essentially the same as one that cost only 100$ is ludicrous. i could afford for the welds, gaskets, or even the headers them selves to fail 30 times before even equalizing what the supersprint headers would have cost me. but would i get 30X as much power? would my car be 30x louder? doubtful, no impossible. it might be easy to say such things when mommy and daddy fund your car and modding it, or if you just so happen to be luck enough as to have money flowing from your ass. as for the sensor bungs, i really just got to this small JDM shop around town, and they do all my work pretty cheap. HELLO! my shop works on lambo and ferrari, so i think they could handle grinding down a sensor bung, and fitting headers and i directly told them not to do a hack job and if it doesn't fit, we'll explore option. so before you go around throwing out accusations and your personal diagnosis it might pay to ask a few questions, before dipping into your obvious vast wealth of knowledge.

PS thanks for touting another added benfit to this set of headers, their minimal weight. my exhaust sounds great, i have no rasp. i just wonder why some people like to generalize, serously tho, what mods have you done to youre M coupe?

You cheaped out, that's a fact.

The build quality of ebay headers is far inferior, that's a fact.

You claim you didn't pinch pennies but you did, period. I am also not throwing out accusations, you did not install them yourself and that was clear, so you have absolutely no idea about how bad the fitment really is. Had you installed them yourself you would have understood exactly what the problems with them are.

Here's another pic of your beloved ebay headers. and if you think a "minor" difference in the angle of flanges is no big deal, I can't wait for you to make the thread "Popping sound from my engine bay, what is this!!"

By the way, did you buy new oem gaskets?

You have no rasp because you still have your secondaries and resonator, once you get to the level of moding where you remove those you will have rasp, and it will sound worse because of the thin walled headers.

And you want to get into a pissing contest to see who has more mods on there car as if that proves something? Not that it wouldn't be entertaining but why don't we go by who has handled and installed the most headers instead
