'dramatic' might be a little much to describe a change in the clutch stop. Its just that the shorter distance the clutch pedal travels is a noticable improvement in the feel. This relates to the pedal movement only, not really relating to the actual clutch engagement feeling in the drivetrain. imo.

But once its done, after about 2 days you forget what the old clutch pedal distance really was, and the difference in feel starts to fade from memory.

Please, because I just don't get it. Am I missing something? Maybe I am. I just don't know.

Definitely a shorter distance, but I'd say no change in "feel" of the clutch itself, just a change in the engagement point. (The clutch just takes up engagement closer to the end of travel.) It's a preference thing, you just don't have to let the clutch out as far before it engages from the stop. (Of course, it's at the same point as before, it just seems sooner since there's less pedal travel.)

One thing to be aware of with the clutch stop is that setting it to engage almost instantly probably means more wear on the synchos. So it's best to keep some play in the pedal between fully to the stop and engagement if you plan on keeping the transmission around awhile. (This is per my indie shop, who have seen those using stops have synchro issues. Feel free to disagree--it makes sense to me though.)

Ok, understand now. That's what I figured.

My engagement point is about 1" off of the stop. I wish it was just a little bit higher, so no aftermarket stop for me. I agree about the syncro issue. If you are always trying to find that 'sweet spot' and half the time you miss it, then the shifting seems clunky. Push the peddle all the way down and then shift, it shifts smooth as butter. Sort of a built in 'heartbeat' method. But that is just me.

I'm going in next week for the RE trans mounts thanks for all the info on this thread. On a side not has anyone done the RE Engine Mounts? I was going to get those done as well as I now have 72K miles and I feel my engine movement a lot more then before. I had my bolts checked and re-torqued at the dealer so I'm assuming my mounts are just worn now. I'd like to hear anyone's thoughts on the change to the RE engine mounts, thanks again folks!

I havent but I am really thinking about it. Do they offer neoprene engine mounts as well? I really dont want the harshness of poly but I like the neoprene

Taken from Finn's sticky:
http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthre...t=engine+mount

Engine Mounts: Engine mounts (UUC, Vorshlag, or Rogue) can be added to further reduce driveline movement and slop. Adding these and the transmission mounts will practically eliminate any drivetrain slop--this the only way to fully eliminate the denial of 2nd issue. Those who have done this report a full fix under all conditions. However, since the UUC and Vorshlag are both Poly this will may be at the expense of your sanity in anything but a fully prepped and dedicated full-time track (or preferably race) car due to NVH. Rogue has a neoprene version out that they claim only increases NVH by ~30%, and is cheaper than the BMW Motorsport version (380 vs. 800+). (BMW Motorsport mounts are just a harder rubber version of stock like the Rogue.) No real data from forum members on the Rogue get, but based on the experience of the neoprene vs. poly mounts it's fair to assume these would have considerably less NVH than poly. (If anyone gets the rubber, please PM me your experience.) Poly are recommended for race prepped cars only; Neoprene for those who want more control over the drivetrain and a smaller increase in NVH.

General Application Notes: In terms of NVH from least to most: Stock -> Rogue -> UUC Black -> UUC Red -> Vorschlag . As someone noted the other day on the forum engineering/design is always about compromise. Want to get rid of slop entirely? That will come at the expense of NVH. Want very little vibration and to hear the S54? That will come at the expense of some denied shifts. Adding in poly engine mounts = considerable NVH, and poly engine mounts plus poly transmission mounts is generally best for a race prepped or track-use only car (at least for most folks that is, YMMD). Those with super-loud exhaust systems will probably find that the NVH of some of the louder mount options is "mitigated" by the exhaust, so factor that into any decision making along with the goal/application.

I looked for them on their website and couldn't find them. Got a link?

found under: 'Suspension' -> 'Bushings/mounts'. not the most intuitive place to put them......

very nice. This will be on my list of things to do. I love the neoprene its stiffer but doesnt really increase NVH etc

If you install these, be sure to PM me with your findings, or add a note to the sticky (I'll update the main entry with findings).

Thanks
