Tire Rack's Tire Road Hazard claim experience?

Has anyone gone through a Tire Rack's Road Hazard claim? If so, how was your experience? Any input would greatly be appreciated.

I just discovered a sidewall puncture and needs to make a claim with them. I'll need to get the tire replaced. Still reading through their claim procedure

Only major issue I see right now is the Conti ExtremeContact DW has been discontinued. Tire's only got about 3k miles on it.

It's really simple. Just call them up and make sure you have coverage for that tire. They will send out a replacement tire right away. Now as far as the discontinued part goes I can't say for sure, but more than likely they will send you something comparable to it.

Unfortunately, it wasn't that simple for me. TireRack didn't want to cover it. Their opinion was that this was only a "cosmetic" issue. The slash was actually deeper than what that picture showed so I ended up replacing the tire out of pocket.

I wasn't happy about it, especially having to spend $300 on an out of production tire to replace a fairly new tire, but safety comes first. That crack/split was getting worse as I drove on it - so I was getting it replaced regardless if TireRack was covering it or not. Very fortunate to have caught this during my "pre-flight" check prior to the Crater Lake trip!

Surprising. I had a pleasant experience with their process. A few weeks ago I ended up getting a nail in the outside tread of a Extreme Contact DW with 400 miles on it However Tire Rack immediately warrantied it after talking with the repair shop. Unfortunately I bought them last year when they were on clearance and TR would only cover what I paid, so I was out about $100 bucks for the replacement...

I guessed its different when the damage is obvious, punctured through in your case. Mine hadn't actually ruptured yet, but I wasn't gonna wait for it to do so

Should just put a nail on the sidewall and call it a day, lol.

that's the nicest advice here. And the chances of it working is very high. (tested it myself)
