Apex Black Friday Purchase Pending..

So we recently bought a set of Apex EC7's in 18x8.5 ET35 and 9.5 ET35 and run them on our 3.0si coupe with the standard 225/40 and 255/35 sizings. Very happy, fill the arches nicely with 10mm spacers front and rear.

With a Z4M coupe on the horizon and the pricing offered think we will further bolster the US economy with the purchase of a set of ARC8's in 18x9 ET30 and 18x10ET25, and fit standard sized 224/235/45 F and 255/40 rear tyres.

Naturally the ability to swap the wheel tyre combos between the two cars is attractive, and my questions are:
Is 9 inch just a tad wide on the front for the 4M, and with the EC7's on the 4M will I need the spacers too, maybe on the front but not the rear?
No plans to lower ride heights etc or fit coilovers.

Couple of cellphone pix, colour is nachblu.
Thank you for reading, all advice taken on board,
Bill

If you have proper tire sizes along with some camber, those measurements will be fine. I’m running the 9” et30 + 10” et25 and they look great.

Sitting on Cup 2‘s with 245/40 and 265/35, lowered 0.7” and -2.5 camber up front.

I do like the hard top, its best of both worlds. And practical too in that when it's on I don't need to worry about water drainage/pooling in the trunk.

Grigio Telesto wrap job.

So purchased in HyperBlack Arc8 18x9 ET42 (because bbk) and 17mm spacers for front
and 18x10 ET25 Rear. Gives me the option now to switch both sets from 4C to 4M.

We’ve encountered production delays with our factory that have slowed delivery of some units including those wheels. Our team should keep you updated RE: arrival times but if you have any questions feel free to reach out via thread or PM as well.

Thanks
-Tom

Quick update here .Still waiting for the Arc8's but never mind March 20 but we will see! Pressing on with lots of other stuff.

Quick question 3002tii, the 335i front calipers will they fit under 17 inch Arc8's on a 4C? Not our car but a colleague's in the UK, thank you

What's a 4C? Is that short for Z4 coupe? If it's the flat spoke version of the Arc 8, it's possible but I'd be prepared to run a spacer.

Yes Z4C (coupe) 3002tii thanks for the reply. Spacer is no problem for the UK chum He tracks his car quite a bit I believe. The UK lads like the Porsche caliper conversion, but for us its a bit too spendy. Hoping that on fitting day its more or less quite simple and straight forward, do we have to faff about with brake lines to the bigger front calipers do you remember?

The 335i caliper and Z4 m rotor is a bolt on install for the fronts.

New Wheels ARC8 have arrived......

Finally arrived last week, ordered on the Black Friday deal Nov 2019, its not like a lot has been going on with lock down and so on since early March. The world seems a different place, but still the same people on our beloved forum, hope you are all doing OK over there in the US.

Anyhoo quick question for 3002tii, perhaps, planning on stepping up this set's tyre sizes to 235/45/18 front and 255/40/18 rear. Checked my calculations and a quick measure up, seem to be an OK fitment for our 3.0si coupe. The plan is to acquire a 4M coupe in the future, and the ability to switch wheel and tyre combos is attractive.
Our 4C coupe is motorsport suspended, and totally stock, driven gently (well relatively) should I anticipate any problems

Thanks in advance, Bill

Coming from a 335i E9x, Is this correct? I’ve read it’s not just bolt on but a bit of modification is required. If you’re speaking from experience, would calipers and brake pads The only things needed to do the swap?

You need the 335i calipers, pads and Z4M front discs. Bolt on conversion. Then, given the larger sizing of the caliper, you may need to spacer (er) out your front wheels ie away from the caliper.

if you use the 335I calliper your pedal will feel softer and have a slightly longer travel. I did this mod in an E87 130i where I retrofit 335i E9x calliper and in my case, I went with 335i rotors.

No difference in travel or feel at all. Mind you still bedding in the discs. Replaced brake fluid, and used new low dust pads, the car will not be tracked, its just a weekend and fine day fourth or fifth car.

I replaced M’s rotors recently so I really just need the calipers and pads. So if you guys are referring to the E9x 335i, would it be the exact same 6 piston calipers from the 135i?
