Lower grille mesh pre face lift
In order to increase the open area in the lower grille to feed air to the heat exchanger on the Intercooler setup on my supercharged non M I removed the original lower grille panel completely and covered the opening with a $7 piece of “lath” wire mesh.
Contemplating now whether I should paint it black.

Since you have CF kidney grilles and CF front splitter, I'm pretty sure it would look a lot better if you painted that mesh flat black. Why add unnecessary additional contrast and draw attention to the cheap lath material? I don't know about your model, but the M model has a black lower grille.

It looks nice but how much protection is it actually providing? That stuff is pretty flimsy; if it's what I think it is, it's aluminum. I'd think that leaves and bugs will get stopped, but anything much harder is going to penetrate.
But it does look good! |

Wanted a wider opening to cool the heat exchanger. Tried a couple of products and couldn’t find anything that would mold to the compound curves of the inlet in the bumper cover. We shall see how it holds up. Not like I go off roading or down gravel roads.
