Brake Pad Wear Notification
I've searched on the topic and reviewed the BMW TIS and can't find a citation to validate, but I want to make sure. Also, there is no reset procedure in the software I can find either.
The brake pad wear system on the E85/86 is just the simple BMW single-stage wear-sensor type? Just trying to verify. My rears were quite low, but I was waiting for the pad wear light to come on. It finally did week before last and yesterday I replaced the pads, rotors, and sensor, but the notification light remains on. The fronts look near spent, so I think it's just a coincidence, and the pad notification is for the front axle as well. Just wanted to verify. TIA

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Thanks for responding, but my question is, once a new pad sensor is installed, does the system reset automatically, or is there a reset procedure to reset the pad notification icon. The old version of BMW's pad notification system (i.e. non-CBS) was simple, where a new pad wear sensor closes the open circuit and the icon goes off. I'm trying to verify that.
