255/285 Fitment Possible?
I think fronts should fit but can anyone verify if 255/285 fitment is possible? Looking at Apex Arc-8, 18x9 et30 (255/40) and 18x10 et 25 (285/35). Car is slightly lowered on GC singles with -2.5 front and -2.0 rear. Dont mind adding more camber if necessary but want to avoid spacers or any kind of fender work. Tires most likely PSS variety...
FYI most posts here suggest 275’s safe but 285 would likely rub for any decent summer compound but I’d like to hear from those with actual experience. This member ran 285 Hankooks with very min rub running -1.5*... Last edited by 3002 tii; 08-10-2019 at 11:36 AM.. |

And the 255 was with 40 profile? Got pics and rim specs?

Yes 255/40. Sorry I don't have any pictures, it was in my old phone which broke and I didn't back up =( if I find anything I'll send it to you.
Wheel specs were 19x8.5 et34 front with a 5mm spacer and rear was 19x10 et23. Last edited by Z4M_Coupe; 02-26-2019 at 11:50 AM.. |

Slightly lower on FA500 singles with -3.3 camber front with zero toe and -2.0 rear camber with a scooch toe in. No rubbing at all

Ironically, 255/40/18 is what I originally bought. However, I had the wheels and tires before the suspension, and didn't have enough camber to maybe make the tire fit. On my stock suspension setup at the time, a 255/40 would have destroyed fender liners and rubbed like crazy. Since a 255/40/18 is roughly an inch taller than a 255/35/18, I went one aspect ratio size down and have had no issues since!

I just tried 295/35r18 , they do not fit. I'm using up all the room inside the wheel well, and still need 1/2" past the limit of the rear portion of the rear fender.
295/30 fits, I ran it all year last year. I took my Apex 18x9.5et35 and widened it to 10.5 to make it happen. The offset was perfect for the outer-spacing. 285 may be possible but you'll need to do some good amount of rolling unless you move the wheel further into the wheel well. You'll need all the travel you can get especially on those high speed turns at NJMP Wheels will tuck in! I can show you my work if you're in the area some day or at an event!

I am actually considering this set-up soon.
I am planning to run the 219m wheels soon. Would the below fit with stock suspension/camber? F: 18 x 8.5 + 29 --- 255/40/18 R: 18 x 9.5 + 23 --- 285/35/18 Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Want to try this first before I drop on H&R springs. |

255/40 is too tall for front fitment. You would need a 255/35/18 to clear and even then it would be tight. Also, you may need to maximize your front camber situation. Are your alignment pins pulled?

I clipped the below from this site and figured I might be able to get away with a 255/40 up front: https://support.apexraceparts.com/hc...-Fitment-Guide
"Staggered Setups Maintains stock-like handling characteristics, tires can only be rotated left to right. Maximizes both front and rear tire width. Front: 17x9" ET30 with 235/40-17 tires Rear: 17x10" ET25 with 275/40-17 tires Direct fit. Popular fitment. Front: 18x9" ET30 or ET31 with 255/40-18 tires Rear: 18x10" ET25 with 275/35-18 tires Front negative camber required" |

No dispute there. I thought the same as you when I bought my tires (same height, they should fit!) just to find out they would not work. I would add to my previous statement, more girth at the top caused my issue.
You may have missed it, but the listing you posted states "front negative camber required". Unfortunately, APEX does not say how much negative camber. Earlier in the thread, I stated I needed more front camber to make it work. At the time, I was at ~ -2.3 degrees with camber pins pulled and 2 camber washers installed and yet, it did not fit. Given my experience, I would argue more than that is needed. If you are dead set on 255/40, contact APEX to see how much negative camber they recommend is needed. Though I suspect you will need camber plates ($400+ for a set) to make that happen. Given you are staying on stock suspension, I would recommend going 255/35/18 for the front like I ultimately did. A quick peak at TireRack at the PS4S shows that size is about $20 cheaper per tire anyways

18x9 +30 255/35/18 Michelin Pilot Super Sports
18x10 +25 275/35/18 Michelin Pilot Super Sports I'm on stock struts with Eibach's prokit lowering springs. Rears are perfect. No modifications required. Fronts rub the brake cool ducting behind the front bumper when you turn. Super Sports seam to be a bit bigger than most tires I find. Stationary turning the wheel, it rubs. However while driving it doesn't at all... kind of bazaar? Let's hope I don't have a roadside safety anytime soon There is no fender rubbing or rubbing on the strut inside which is great. I would suggest running a 245/35 or a 235/40 on an 18x9 +30 Arc-8 wheel upfront. |

Will 255/35r18 fit?
I'm looking to get a new set of tires for my 07 3.0si coupe. I've had a square setup on it for a while and want to continue with that. Right now I'm running 225/40r18 on 18x8.5 et40 rims. I'd like to jump up to 255/35r18. I know they'll fit on the back because that's the stock size, but I'm unsure of the front.
The car has stock suspension and I have no intention of changing that. Has anyone had experience with that size tire up front on stock suspension? Thanks in advance for your help. |

On the same rims it should fit depending on the tire but without adjusting camber it won’t have good turn in
