Why doesn't someone call their local dealer and see what the supply is for that part? Just give them the part number, they'll tell you within a minute what the supply is in the US.

On the whole, BMW is pretty good with mechanical parts, cosmetic parts can be iffy, but BMW is not dumb and they will constantly raise the price on parts every 6 months.

This post made me do a search and I found two interesting items on getbmwparts.com. Hopefully it's legit.

The site will process the order, and refund you in a day or two. I know a couple people that tried. I wonder why they don't remove the listing...

Plastic parts for Z4s

Hi! Does anyone have experience with 3D printing of parts for the BMW Z plastic convertible parts?

I am debating about going into business and buy a quality 3D printer and start making some of these all plastic parts that are outrageous in price, for instance, the center plastic cover for the latch motor and even the windshield frame cover! I am positive these could be made for half the price.

I have some experience with 3d printing, not as easily done as you wanted.. generating the stl file from an object isn't easy.. lots of trial and error. even "3d scanning" isn't as easily done.

Bump... eventually this thread will start getting populated. It seems lots of Z4 parts are shared with many other platforms (E36/E46,etc) that it will be a while before they are discontinued, and lots of used spares in junk yards so far.

If you've confirmed a discontinued part, please let us know! Will have to start hoarding soon.

I need two of them in black (Schwarz). ANY idea where I can find them? Is anyone making them (3d)? I have visited every parts seller and even two wrecks at a parts pull junk yard - no luck.

Any ideas?

Likewise.
$85 on ebay. Each
$40 at my local stealer. And only 3 in Canada apparently.

I have the plugs but the tangs are broken off.
I may try a dab of black silicone on the inside of the cap and tape them in place while they dry.

Can someone 3d print those (and in a way they don't break) so I can plug all mine up? Perhaps I should design them and get them printed if folks have an interest.. Just gotta find the right material since those tabs are too easy to break off.

Here:

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3404310/files

Someone send this out to a 3d print lab and print 100 of them in strong ABS or NYLON, sell them for a $1 a pop. I will buy some from you.

I've seen that listing on eBay as well! L O L

I don't even have broken ones. real oem.com says they should cost just under seven dollars.
