Unhappy What is this broken piece under the front bumper of this Z4 M?

I'm looking at a Z4M and I got a PPI from a company and one of the pictures shows a broken piece of what looks like plastic under the car. Is it from one of the bumpers or something?

Likely the plastic protective undertray was crushed/torn away at some point. I wouldn't let that deter you from purchasing the fantastic machine known as the Z4M!

What's interesting is that the picture you've shown above is taken directly from a DIY from Pelican Parts (or at the very least from the same car). Any idea what that's all about?

What is the writing on the panel to the left? Looks like something a bodyshop would mark.

Ding ding ding. Is there an accident on record? Looks like it was repaired at one point.

I wouldn't be 100% sure of that, in the deep recesses of my mind I believe I remember seeing similar markings on various areas of my Z4Ms. If you look closely, you can also see "06" which is likely the year of the car (2006), the digits are also in date format. I think those could be factory markings.

That yellow marker is from a parts recycler, its the date range that it fits...

And on that pelican part picture you can also see that even back then it already had the oil leak.
Not the tell tale sign of a well maintained car.

For BMW I do believe the yellow markings also came from the car manufacturing plant. It does not necessarily mean the parts came from a parts recycler.

Also I wouldn't worry too much about the missing piece. Mine was also missing. It tends to get scraped up from regular driving and not replaced. I replaced mine because it does control wind flow and protect from rocks.
