Soft top difference b/w pre Apr 2006 and after
I'm in the market for a new soft top and all parts recyclers differentiate between the two power top produced earlier and later.
Are they interchangeable? Thanks in advance. Sucks to need a new top $$$$$ |

This is a old post, but will reply for archive purposes.
The assembly changed, instead of locking the top down when folded, hydraulics hold it in place on the new assembly (I don't recall the date change, Apr 2006 sounds right). I don't believe the canvas top itself changed, I believe its a mechanism that changed. I don't know if you will be able to swap from to the other, some programming might be required to acknowledge or disable additional sensors depending upon which one you go with. I like the older design much better - it held the soft top in place while driving and kept wear to a minimum.

Are you looking for a used top (with frame) or plan to replace the fabric only?
