Holy sh*t...

I continue to be amazed by the ingenuity of this group. In spite the lack of aftermarket support we've found ways around that problem.

Good job. Makes me feel proud to be amongst arguably the ONLY group of BMW enthusiasts worth belonging to right now. Well, us and the E30 people. Those guys are f**king HARDCORE.

Cant wait for paint either.
I'm still struggling whether to go body color or black; leaning a little more towards black atm.
Ian, this is killer!
In addition to better functionality, the front piece captures the lines and flow better than anything I have seen on our cars. I know you are building for functional down force, but you nailed the cosmetic side IMO too. This is better than anything from Varis, AC, Hamann, APR... you name it.

RE: Color
I agree Black would be aggressive and look awesome, but I kinda like the idea of using body color and black. Body color on the "top" (everything touching original bumper and fenders). Black on the "edges" (everything after the hard angle direction change).

Very exciting, you da man!

Thanks Chris, coming from you and all you've done I appreciate the comments.

Re the color
That's a great suggestion!
I have to also think how it will work with the sides I have planned.
I'm thinking about doing a turned up winglet that I wanted to do a body color accent with, but that would almost be the reverse of the front. (Body outside of winglet & black interior)

I'll have to wrestle with this a bit more.

So after looking at the test images again, I am suggesting the product name of M-Beard.

I love how it looks, but when I was imagining it in black against your car's white paint, I just couldn't help but see this comparison in my head...

Thinking a bit more.
I will likely paint in body color & then do some with plastidip to test different looks.

I don't think it would look bad, even in all black, but it might blend better if most of it is body color. Maybe some black accents on just certain areas? Hard to know for sure without actually seeing it, but at least plasti-dip will allow you try multiple options out.

I was extremely excited to see somebody was creating some sort of enhancement or lip for the aero bumper/skirts....definitely an awesome write up and looking forward to seeing finished outcome., looks sick in its preliminary stages

Are you by chance making a mold or will this be one off?

I will not be making molds.
I don't want to get tied into that type of production or farm it out to 2nd party production.
plus they are not easy pieces to mold with complexity of compound curves.

I also want something stronger than a hollow f/g lip from a mold.

Part of the design process is making templates and jigs.
The plan is to make these available on a limited basis in small GB runs.

Update 2 -

I now have the center section fitted and shaped to basic form.

Here are a couple of update pics with everything in place for final tweaking without clamps holding things in place.

The main areas being addressed are; (see arrows in 1st pic)
- taper/ blend the top of the vertical piece
- a little smoother curve to the shape where the vertical piece joins the lip
- smoothing the arc of leading edge

and a few different angles

Looks like it's really starting to come together.

How do you plan on the final piece being attached to the bumper?

The fang covers/wheel arch extensions will have support from under the bumper and double sided trim tape up the wheel arch.
There will be no drilling on the bumper face. (Reversible )

The center section will bolt up through the cross member below the grill.
As well as interlocked with the two side pieces

Nice! Sounds like it'll be good an secure without damaging anything.

What piece do you plan to work on next? Looks like this one is nearing completion...

I'm going to finish this completely before moving on.
I hope to get the f/g lay ups done next week then paint and properly mounted.

Side sills will be next.
Then rear quarter and diffuser.
