Z4M vs Z4 belly pan - what does vent point to

This part: 51717893609

I noticed there is a vent under there, whiles the Z4 3.0si doesn't have one. Can anyone determine what that vent points to? Is there transmission cooling fins behind it?

Also, there seems to be another undertray just past that one (going towards the tranny). Is that on all Z4M 6spds ?

Nothing really behind it, but it's near the cats.
Maybe just to get some air flow to flush the heat from the headers?

There is a smaller tray just behind that.
You're probably meaning #8 in this diagram.

Yes it is on the Z4M.

do you mean the red arrow? That goes to transmission area. The clutch valve connects back up in there. Not sure if anything else. It probably helps draw air up in there to cool the transmission.

Actually, to the right of the Blue arrow (the Naca duct). Now that I see it better, seems you may be right. Air enters the naca duct, and then gets shot upwards into the trans by the transmission splash shield.

Sucks - I'm missing the trans splash shield from my 3.0si (never knew it came with one), and the 3.0si has no naca duct on the engine support shield. Odd how they include it in the M, but no other vehicles.

Here is what baffles me. 3.2 M Z4 has that transmission splash shield (different part number than the 3.0si shield). RealOem lists the 3.0si shield as Automatic Transmission only. Oddly my car never came with one. Now why would that be the case, yet all Z4Ms with manuals have that transmission splash shield.
