On the hunt again, BaT auction fell through with a bad seller and BaT won't do anything about it which is frustrating beyond words.

Have a White or Gray Z4MC? ...let me know!

WHAT??!! That's awful.

I was watching and commenting on that auction. Just looked and there aren't any recent comments about the deal falling through. What's the story? What is BaT telling you?

The tale is a bit winded but here you go:

First off, after winning seller told me he'd rather keep the car. Then was just difficult and acted really shady, would hardly communicate and made me nervous about the whole thing. Son selling for his Father situation - I talked to them both.

It started going south when they refused additional pictures, Facetime, PPI on my dime or to let me come look at the car unless I wired him the payoff first - told me if I wanted any of that then I should have asked before winning the auction. Next, I'm financing and he wouldn't take a Finance Check even though we're members at the same Credit Union. I understand WireXfer is the recommended safest method but I jumped through hoops to make this happen and make seller comfortable - Loan Underwriter at our SAME FCU was willing to vouch for payment over the phone. Ultimately, the seller kept telling me to inform BaT that I didn't want the car which is total BS.

At this point, it's clear the seller isn't interested in closing the deal so time to walk away...

It's now been 5 straight days of trying to contact BaT through email and their only phone number which just goes to voicemail. They have not replied a single time. I read about horror stories with BaT and am now sad to live through one, unless a sale goes off without a hitch do not expect any assistance from BaT! The worst part of all this is BaT's resounding silence.

I'm sure if any future comments are made on the auction, BaT will paint the seller as the victim and let him post again since they only care about generating traffic and that 5% fee.

So yea, buyer beware - it's a gamble. I know sales do happen without a hitch but there appears to be no sh!ts given if it doesn't.

Thanks. The lack of a support system on BaT really surprises me, this was my first and last time to risk such a large fee with the site which could have been avoided.

Oh well, I'm optimistic I'll find a nice Z4MC somewhere soon.

Really sorry to hear that. I've also heard similar experiences with BaT.

There is another one listed on ebay you might want to check out. Don't know anything about it other than color and mileage look good.

There is a dealer in Cincinnati Ohio that sells a lot of BMW's. They are a bit high on price but find some very low mileage ones. They currently have this one: http://enthusiastauto.com/qsearch/?f...4_0=1&x=20&y=9

Man that is a sad tale. Do update us if/when BaT finally gets back to you. Want to make some noise in person? There is a big event next month that starts in Phoenix (Tempe) called the Copperstate 1000. BaT participates and will have a tent at the start, which I'm sure will be attended by BaT head honcho (Randy I believe is his name).

As for EAG, the Cincinnati M-car dealer - I've done business with them twice and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Their pricing is sky-high but they carefully vet cars that they source, then fully refurbish them (and then some) before putting them up for sale.

That said - one of the 2 Imola M coupes they currently have - the 44k-mile one at $39,900 - I almost bought back in October. But I just couldn't justify the price once I got the detailed pics and history. I wound up finding a car right here in the classifieds, buried 3 pages deep, the ad never refreshed/bumped because the owner wasn't really sure he wanted to sell. Space Gray '08, 34k miles, non-nav (a BIG deal to me and an absolute must) and carbon leather trim. Ask was $38k, I offered $34k, we settled at $34.5k. Not cheap, but worth every penny IMHO, and still feel that way several months later. Keep alert and turn over rocks wherever you can, the "right" car will turn up!

Too bad to hear about BaT horror stories as some of the better examples of the cars we love end up there. I'm continuing my hunt for a black on red MT coupe here,on Craigslist, etc ...
