Found almost a full second by carrying more speed through turns 6 and 7 but was scrubbing a bit too much speed in T1 negating much of the gains... so settled with a .25 improvement. Until next time to hit that elusive 1:14:XXX!

I’m still here but I just wait to do a bunch of updates at once as opposed to every time someone posts. Lap times were last updated on May 30th and since then were only a handful of new times. Will get around to it next week when I’m off from work

You can put Zach Boozé down for 2.06.00 on Thunderhill East. RE71R tires. Dry, 106 degrees. I saw the time on Harry's in his hand

You can put me down for 2.09.02 for Thunderhill East, 106 degrees, and 1.49.38 at Laguna 78 degrees. Both on tracks were on RE71Rs.

Both are Z4M coupes stock motor. Zack is running TCKs and I'm running stock dampers.

Thanks for keeping this updated!

First time out at the Glen and it was an amazing experience. Given half the event was in the rain, I was only able to really focus on improving the first sector. With a theoretical best of 2:05, I'm leaving tons of time on the table. Will try for < 2:13 in Sept.

Who here wants to submit a time for Canadian Tire Motorsport Park GP? Anecdotally, one guy at BMW Trillium last year (and may or may not be a member here) was running low 1:37 or maybe even high 1:36 on nothing more than stock size RE71-Rs and camber washers.

Tires: R888R 295/265
Best Lap: 1:15.910

Improved from my last 1:19.0 by simply carrying more speed into the corners. My tires aren't showing much of any wear - I need more seat time and confidence. My best time was actually done with very little boost, tried going for momentum than shear torque. Also ran into traffic most of the laps, but that isn't the point of these HPDE events

Had two crazy lightning and downpour events, closing the track twice. Track got flooded, with 40mph winds. It's crazy out here.

Nice gains!! You make a good point about your methodology this event. While Thunderbolt rewards greater HP, I think Lightning rewards smoothness and momentum. Sorry to hear about that crazy weather, too - saw some videos from others that were there.

Nice gains!!

How’d the brakes perform? What’s your current setup?

Thanks everyone. Lots of learning to do!

I did measure brake temps after a cool down lap:
Fr rotor/caliper: 560/360F
Rr rotor/caliper: 370/255F

Both these tracks never gave me brake issues for some reason. Had SRF in it, but since I wasn't coming in hot into any corner, was barely using them (unlike Pocono). Still on this setup:
-335i front floating calipers/Z4M front rotors/2.5" cooling ducts to front/Brass caliper guide pins-no rubber boot
-135i rear fixed caliper/Z4M rear rotors (custom brake shoes to make it all work on the 3.0si)
-PFC08 pads all around

We had ~40mph winds on a torrential downpour around 11am, fooded the entire pit-road access area with 18" of water. It drained after 30minutes. A few trailers rammed into vehicles from the wind. I was in my truck and started to really fear for what would happen. Wind plus flat wide trailer = easy sail! I had chocked my trailer right before the storm. Storm came back around 3pm (10mile radius of lightning forces track to shut down) and another evil wind driven downpour ensued. This is why they call these tracks "Thunderbolt and Lightning" ? lol

By not running boost on the straights, I had more time to think and plan the next corner, entry speed, and focus. That helped tremendously as I wasn't trying to brake for my life at every instant. I actually let the entire pack pass me the first 2 laps so I can focus, and I have video showing me passing everyone by the next few laps. Not to say my driving ability is supreme, but that I think I was carrying a good pace being a bit more relaxed.

Wish I had more sessions to continue working on this - got cut short by the weather.

Thought I would post up some times. The car is stock configuration Z4M (engine, seats, diff) with only a TCKline DA suspension. Running 265/35/18 RE71r tires on 4 x stock rear wheels.

Tracks are Summit Main, Dominion Raceway, VIR Full, and Pitt Race.

** Posting this as a data point for anyone thinking to run R888R tires **

Same Track, Same Conditions and Car Setup exactly the same way but running 265/35/18 square R888R Tires with 3 Days / 12 HC in them. Consistently running mid 1:17's to low 1:18's then tapered up to 1:18-1:19 as they cycled out over the weekend. Easily ~3 seconds slower than the Extreme VR2 that I was running earlier this summer.

What led him to believe the shocks were "toast" ? And is the slower time due to shocks, tires wearing out, or combination? Are you suggesting that R888R are inferior to those VR2s?

I can say for sure that the R888R definitely does not carry the same level of grip as the VR2 Medium Compound, despite the lower tread wear rating. At the same time, while the dirt-cheap VR2 costs $400 for a set, they only last 3-4 days before seriously dropping off, so there is a trade-off here.

At first I was driving the car the same way as with the VR2 and the tires just could not handle it and do what I was asking. After playing with tire pressures and wing AOA, I needed to step back, reset all the changes and adjust my driving style to account for it. I'll also look at cornering G differences later when I download all the data.

Track: Pocono FUSA (double infield with hairpin)
Car: Z4 Coupe - 2JZ
Conditions: 80degF, beautiful day
Tires: R888R 295/265 37psi hot
Best Lap: 1:53.022

Practiced not-overbraking for each turn, slight improvement from last time here. In three spots on the track, I am around 3krpm and way out of my powerband. Too lazy to shift into 2nd gear (what is this, an autocross track?!). I'm losing some time there. Hit 160mph on the long straight - that was fun.

I have the brakes and power, but I seem to lack momentum during turns. At least, compared to others who have basically stock vehicles, "lesser tires". Had an instructor drive with me, didn't see much of anything wrong with my lines. I was driving the tires hard for sure.

Perhaps going from -3 to -3.5 front camber can help... Tires have 6 track days (about 20 sessions), still tons of meat on them. Don't think they are falling off yet?

I feel like MOST configurations at Pocono feel like a wider auto-x layout
