Depends on your tolerance, I drive mine daily and in my opinion it is harsh but acceptable. I would prefer a softer car sometimes but at the same time the handling and fun factor far outweighs a comfy car.

Depends on your commute. If you are sitting in stop and go for 45 min, not sure I'd be willing to put those kinds of miles on my Z.
If you get to drive HWY 280 from Cupertio to Palo Alto her in CA, sure, I'd do it!

Depends on the commute, if it was relatively short or a decent (fun) drive it wouldn't be that bad but if mostly in traffic or a long boring drive I wouldn't want to deal with it. Add in the lack of space and it wouldn't be a great daily driver but others are fine with it.

I use mine as a daily and it's not a problem at all, about 6-7 miles each way. I've also taken it on a couple of long jaunts, ATL-PIT/ATL-CT also not too bad. Maybe I have a high pain threshold.

It is very possible.
I DD'ed my Z4M for 2 years before picking up a 128i. When I worked in another city than what I currently commute in, I was always traveling away from traffic, so I never sat in rush hour. However, now I travel crowded roads, and stop and go isn't too friendly in the Z4M...it tends to not like it. As well, I just wanted to keep mileage off the car, so that is why I picked up a 128. I've also driven 5+ hours in the car, and never had an issue with comfort. |

I run mine whenever it doesn't rain or snow. I live in the DC metro area and my 12 mile commute can sometimes take an hour + The answer is, it sucks when it is stop and go. But, I love my little cocoon, I jam my tunes and enjoy some me time. I have taken the car on a few 1k+ mile road trips. It is a joy to ride and since I am 5'8" no comfort issues for me. I really dislike it in traffic though.

Daily drive, city commute, piece of cake. I did it for 2 years. It's relatively softer than what I've been trying to do - daily commute in peak hour in a GT3.... now that's a nightmare.

Mine doesnt have the navi and I find the phone mic and speaker system for working while driving terrible in the m coupe..

About 60 miles and 2-3 hours round trip 4 days a week.
It's not what you would call a "fun drive". Lots of stop-n-go freeway traffic. It's the Z4 that makes it fun. I wouldn't want to spend that much time in a boring car.

Short o snow accumulated on the ground, I daily drive mine. Short commute (20 min each way). Light-medium traffic. Highway speeds. Not twisty or necessarily a fun road. But I'd rather do it in comfort and style in the Z versus anything else.

I DD mine. I used to walk to work, so there wasn't much daily driving, but I've since moved, and my commute is now about 10 miles each way. It's not bad at all. I've also bought a set of dedicated snow tires/rims so I can keep driving throughout the winter. I've yet to get stuck! I ALSO just picked up an Eton Ski Rack, to further increase the driveability of the car.

I've daily driven my Z4 2.5i for 3.5 years now and the only time I've regretted it was when the opportunity comes up to transport some lovely ladies - they don't like being split up because you only have one passenger seat!
The odd time I need to transport something bulky I just borrow a family member/friend's car |

I have also been DD my Z4 2.5i for about 1.5 years... bought the Z4MC recently and don't think I'll DD it if I can help it. I like to drive with the top down, and I like not worrying about door dings and such. Starting to think I should have picked up a cosmetically challenged Z4MR instead.

If there is a lot of start-stop, the Z4 M is quite terrible due to the short gearing. Ride quality on stock shocks are also average. I'm on Bilstein B6/B8s (can't remember, but only one of them is available) now and the ride quality is much better - suitable for DD.
My biggest issues with the Z4 M Roadster from a comfort point of view, is definitely the road/wind noise at higher speed and the lack of lumbar support on the seats. Both become very irritating on a long drive which is a real shame because the rest of the car is an absolute delight. I'm quite certain the noise issue can be fixed with some dynamat in the rear within the empty area right behind the roll bars when the roof is up - that area seems to echo tire roar. |
