Maybe it's because I'm an old fart, maybe not. I understand the desire to mod both cosmetic and functional, as I am guilty of both. What I don't understand is tinting the brake lights which reduces their brightness. Brake lights are a warning to drivers behind us that the car is slowing/stopping. With as many old (reduced visual acuity) and inattentive drivers on the road today the brighter the brake lights better. This aspect was one of the reasons behind the center brake light laws. Reducing brake light intensity is increasing the chances of being rear ended. My $0.02.

Never liked it. Just spent last Sunday removing the tint from the tails of my g/f E30, that the previous owner thought was cool. Car looks 100x better without the painted tint on the tails.

i agree that tinting tails is bad because of reduction in visibility from behind. BUT, I would do a lighter tint, and keep the white circles in the middle stock. Those tints are way too dark regardless. looks cheesy IMHO.

They do look a bit dark. Too much contrast with the Ti-Silver body.

If you can find some pictures of GP20's taillights, you'll see that he did a light smoke film and it looks just about perfect. I think he used 35% tint film, which still allows most of the red/clear to show but with a slight hint of smoke. Looks fantastic
