Scan tool or software
I have been trying to find an answer regarding a scan tool or simple app/software that can reset or delete transport mode. I can’t seem to find any recent reviews that clearly state if any can. I know the software downloaded to a laptop such as inpa I believe it is called, will work but it is beyond my ability and comfort level. I believe the foxwell 510 did work. Not sure if the latest 530 with bmw software can. I know carly can’t as I have tried that.
Thanks for any help |

Should be able to change the mode with BMW Scanner 1.4 since I've done it.
If you don't have it a google search will net you a download link. You do need to have a cable for it though. eBay sells them. The tool is a lot easier than using INPA or ISTA or NCSEXPERT but it has its limits. Here is the link to a post in the UK forums: https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=126371 |

It requires a laptop. For windows, you should be fine as long as you have a USB port. For Macbook, you have to run Windows Bootcamp. I have used a windows laptop but it's so slow that it grinds the gears in my brain. So I decided to install Windows Bootcamp on my Macbook Pro. I will get a USB A to USB C adapter and see if it works. Fingers crossed. |

Haha,
It should not hog up much memory or processing power compared to ISTA or INPA. You can also code some features on the Z4 using the tool. It's quite rigid I would say. NCSEXPERT is also another tool used for coding (a bit complicated but there are guides). |

Could you offer any advice on installing the software. I am struggling with the drivers I believe. I downloaded the proper drivers for windows 11 which is what I am running. But it keeps stalling, not recognizing my cable possibly. It is a bummer geeks cable which I have used before

Where are you located? There may be a forum member in your area willing to help. If you're in the Northern Virginia or DC metro area, I can reset this for you.

Thank you very much for the offer. Unfortunately I am up in Maine. No local shops have been able to reset it. The nearest dealer is over an hour drive. So I was hoping I could figure out how to load the software. If a foxwell or schwaben scanner would work I would just buy one. But I have thrown a bit more money at it than I planned buying scan tools that didn’t work.

Just wanted to post an update. I have an autel mx808 and there was an update just released this month which added a ton of coding options and also made it bi-directional. There was also a very large update on BMW specific software.
So I just deleted transport mode. It could not have been easier. The user interface is excellent and it took all of 5 minutes. So anybody looking for a good scan tool that is bidirectional and fairly low priced. This may be an option. I did not explore any further but there was a huge amount of stuff under the service tag that was empty before. |
