Not sure, have my E90 posted for sale too. Depends on if I sell one or both… but m2 would be on the list

Thanks I guess I am more testing waters. Been so busy with ‘life’ I barely drive the car (6000 miles in 3 years). Figured maybe I should sell, sit on cash and buy something when I’m in position to enjoy a weekend car.

That said seeing how these cars are getting more attention from other enthusiasts, prices have picked up so maybe I should continue holding onto it.

Same here. I've been contemplating on letting mine go as well, but couldn't get myself to write a "for sale" ad. Sure prices are going higher and higher now, but car prices in general are also going insane. If I sell mine now, I won't get to enjoy something fun for the next 2 to 3 years until prices fall back down. Is that worth making a "profit"? Besides, I can't think of anything at the moment that's in the same price range that will net me as much fun as the MC. I think we both need some budging...me more so since you already wrote an ad

Yep, it’s not even locking a profit but just comes down to consolidating the ‘fleet’ where I pick 1 car that can be nearly as fun as the Z but practical enough to daily (whenever that day comes).

I think we need KevinC to weigh in here since he just swapped from a Z4M into a M2.

I would really think on what you want from the fun car and whether or not you can find that later. 2k miles per year is fine for a fun car, just make sure they really count. Also, given how well you've modified your roadster, consider the trade-off between dialing in another car vs enjoying what you've already done. And in my experience "life" has a way of draining any cash set aside for fun in the future.

Every time I look at it, I keep coming back to keeping the Z4M or hitting the lottery. But my focus is on driver involvement, handling and styling. I don't find myself wanting for the extra turbo grunt you get with the M2 and I'm not a fan of the all black interior. The Cayman/Boxster are too clinical for me unless you get a GTS/GT4 and then you're into too much money. The Z4M makes great noises, turns plenty of heads and I love how the car really comes alive once you get closer to the limit.

Having both a modified Z4M and a stock M2 that fills most of the daily driving, the M2 is a blast for sure! Comfortable on long trips, quite competent for AX/track if desired, and can fit 4 large ~6 foot, ~220lbs + people comfortably.

Sell the e90

Well done - it's frightful to think that the worth of your beloved Z4MR is equal to a new throw-away Kia....

Sometimes it's powerful to step back and "see it....for the first time" and see your beloved Z4MR driving by your home....and you'd look and immediately covet the car and lament letting it go.

I've owned my beloved Z4MR since Mar 2010; I retired 4 yrs ago; I'm nearly 70 YO and drive my Red Roadster just over 1,000 miles a yr; I've considered selling it recently and after every top-down drive, I return with a permanent smile....all the mods I've done to my liking would be lost as would the loss of BMW's last "analog" six-speed manual sports car.

racerbruce perhaps I need to retire and move to warmer climate area where I van drive too down all year

What I really need is one of those hard top winch assemblies that I can install in my garage

Setting up a hardtop lift system would allow you to single-handedly and impulsively enjoy top-down driving as weather permits.

It appears you have enough non-rain days that you could pursue top-down thrills in CT....https://weatherspark.com/y/25488/Ave...tes-Year-Round

I live in the Great Pacific Northwest 50 miles south of Seattle in a little fishing town (Gig Harbor) and always find periods of time through the winter to drive top-down....it's cold but crank up the heat and dress for the cold. This week, I took the beloved Red Roadster out at dawn in 35F weather and it was simply fun.

Phew!

For a moment there I thought you had gone completely insane LOL! Why anyone would sell such a beauty is beyond me! I’d have bought an M years ago except for the budgetary restrictions imposed by my VP Finance (ie, wife).

Not to derail your thought process but I recently bought a Porsche 996 and I am floored at how practical it is in daily use. I still love our Z4MC but it is not a fair comparison when it comes to functionality and routine stuff.

I’m constantly tracking 996 turbo prices lol. I regret not buying one 4-5 years ago when they were much cheaper.

I bought my Z4MC from a guy who bounced between 996 Porsches and Z4 Ms. It was his 3rd Z4MC but his wife liked the comfort and practicality of the Porsches better, so they swapped every year.

Has anyone accomplished such an endeavor to have a safe and working lift system for the hardtop. I'd be curious to know more about a project like that

I actually think BMW used to sell one? But there are third party companies who sell such kits for wrangler, Porsche, etc
