Thought I'd start a thread for totaled Z4 M roadsters and coupes in order to pay homage to these great vehicles.

For the entrepreneur....potentially a great donor vehicle to create a totally one-off (similar to the incredible Nissan 240Z that a Zpost member converted to S54 power)....the Z4M's engine/transmission/differential/brakes could be incredible donors for a future car (Datsun 510, Ford Cortina, older Corvette, etc).

I remember a TR6 a few years back with an M54 driveline.
Imagine an S54 in that LBC

Oh man, I'd love to see an S54 in a 240Z. My Z-car obsession started with the original. Bought my boss's '73 when I was 19 in 1976, owned 2 more as the years went on. Directly led to my E86 obsession.

Do a search on this site - I believe the Nissan Z S54 converted ride is on here. Perhaps it was a 280Z.

My ears are burning.

I don't think those 3 cas in the first post will get any rest, they are all easily fixable. The insurance companies write them off not because they have significant structural damage but because they know they will make a profit selling the cars at auction.
The book wholesale value for our cars is only $5-7,000 unless you have them insured by some place like Hagertys.

greetings grannyknot - you gotta give us more re the 240z....this is just incredible; how much fabbing did you have to do to create motor mounts/trans mounts, etc....tell us about the trans and diff and brakes, etc....how long was the build - did you perform the build??

most important - tell us what it weighs and what the HP is; what's it like to drive, etc

Thanks, I don't want to hijack the OP's thread so I'll just point you to the build thread, it will answer all your questions, https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/...ge=25#comments

I'm 45 min in and have a long way to go in this incredible documented build. Your fab skills are simply incredible!

I've bookmarked it to return for another deep dive.

I hope this happens. Would hate to see these cars end up in the crusher.

There's nothing wrong with a branded car in my opinion as long as the rebuild process is done properly.

Just look at the rebuilt, resto-modded muscle cars that cross the auction block at places like Mecum. Some of those were once junkyard fodder that got a new lease on life.

I agree completely, I've spent the last 46 yrs rebuilding rusty wrecks and they are all worth more now than what I put into them.
Z4's are right on the cusp of the age limit, a few more years and people won't be turning their noses up at a Z4 a rebuilt title.
