Question WTB: Aero Side Skirt - left side or both sides

Yes I know they are hard to find. If you have a left side or a pair and are willing to part with them, let me know. I have cash.

Thanks!

Phil

Thumbs up Still Need Driver Side Aero Side Skirt Part #

Hey Willy,

I was able to source the right side brand new with mounting hardware from BMW of San Francisco. They stated they have access to 10 more (in USA) of the passenger side but once they sell, they are NLA just like the driver side.
http://www.bmwpartswarehouse.com/BMW...-0-150-780.htm

If I can get access to a driver side Aero side skirt, I have access to an industrial 3D printer and can do some experimenting to make more of complete sets.

I will pay top $$ for a driver side if anyone out there happens to run into one..finders fee can be arraigned too.

Part Numbers Needed:

51-71-0-150-780 - Passenger Side
51-71-0-150-781 - Driver Side

Cheers,

Phil

The driver side is probably a just a mirror image of the passenger side, should be flippable with software?

Idk anything about making plastic body panels, but sounds like a fun project.

Busy at work and nothing to share yet. I need to find some time and get things lined up before I have anything to share.

I have some experience with 3D printing technologies - I believe it would be a challenge and fairly expensive to print the Aero Side Skirts.

I have a set listed for sale here, let me know if you are interested.

Yes I believe 3D printing Aero Side Skirts could cost more than $2K for the pair. - seriously -

You have experience with 3D printing?, access to a machine and material? to scan and print these? It has been talked about for years on this blog, yet no one has ever done it. Hmmm? I also believe you would run into quality issues in trying to print these.

Like I mentioned I do have experience with 3D printing, own a 3D printer, and have a fairly good appreciation for the associated challenges.

Would be interested to hear from others who have 3D Printing experience.

Even though advances in technology over the last year has made it better, its the same. The conclusion is "not worth the time, energy and $$".

Can't blame me for making a run at it..maybe in another two years it will be easy to reproduce parts via computer and printer.

You gave it a go, can't ask for more than that. I guess I'll make another offer on the eBay aero skirts... somebody needs to try them out.

In that case, I might take a stab at it later in the year. Too many projects on hand right now.

Aero skirt rep will likely be a project for next year though.

Engine cover is undergoing mold making phase now.. It shouldn't be too long before we can unveil.
There will be 2 versions, OE style as well as vented cover.
