Trunk support shocks

Hi,

The trunk supports in my '07 Z4 Roadster need to be changed and with many brands available, which should I be buying?

Thanks

Hey, I just did this. I think Stabilus is the most common brand for this sort of thing. They're not too expensive even at the dealer. I wanted to try some cheap ones and that was a mistake. It's like nothing, nothing, nothing and then boom the trunk goes flying into space. Very easy to replace too.

I paid I think $15-20 for Stabilus pretty common brand most online autoparts will have it. There is also a brand Magneti Marelli for our cars which is also nice.

Did mine with some cheap ones I found on Ebay. They have been great so far.

I proactively replaced the hood struts on my Roadster with Beneges struts from Amazon a little over two years ago and they've been fine. The trunk struts are not a big deal if they fail, but it's worth spending extra when you replace those hood struts.

In 2018, my wife's previous 2011 335is Coupe was at the dealer for service and they had it up on a lift. There were some tools on top of the engine compartment and the hood struts failed, slamming the hood onto the tools and denting the hood. They had a PDR guy come in and fix it. They told me about it and I couldn't tell where it was, so that was good enough for me. I've never had a car before that had the hood struts fail and I was amazed that they failed in only 7 years. That's why I proactively replaced the struts on the Roadster; I don't want that big long thing falling on my head/back while I'm under there working.
