Dealer insisted me on using MSP/A instead of SAF-XJ for diff fluid
I live in Panama (the country) but own a 2007 US spec z4m coupe and the dealer insisted me on getting the part No. 83229405462 (MSP/A) instead of the part No. 83222282583 (SAF-XJ) thats the one discussed all over this and other z4m forums for my diff.
Could someone shed some light on this? They even emailed me the list from their computer showing the "correct" diff oil to use. |

Looks like SAF-XO is designed for cars with an open differential, and is the wrong part number for our limited slip diff.
That's per Castrol. Castrol recommends SAF-XJ for cars with a limited slip diff. And it's what (or equivalent) we're all using. I don't care what they emailed, open and limited slip diffs have different requirements. Have them put SAF-XJ in. |
