There isn't much space depth-wise underneath the hood. There're only a few places that has a possibility to go lower into the engine bay. Probably an inch max.. If anyone run a strut bar or still have the OE air box/AFE (I have Eventuri which provide more room), clearance is less. Goal is to fit for all situations and all Z4s so this affects the design. Many designs that I come across are really cool but unless you're willing to start relocating parts under the hood, most won't work. My fab guy, who I visited couple of days ago, was the guy that built the whole carbon Slek Z4M roadster that you could find pictures all over the Net. The Slek kit was not very well built and the fitment was not on point, he said. At some places, they're off by an inch. The Slek hood itslef needed lots of tweaking to get it to fit. You know that's not the Skyer way. So he is going to take on this project and build the prototype for the Z4 vented hood. We will start by using a design similar to Slek and without being too motorsport (Varis) but still have venting function.. This was a e89 mock-up that he did a couple of years ago but we are looking at doing something similar to this.. I hope this is a good update for you guys and let me know what you think..

Jordan, get some input from those in the know to location and design functionality. If you did not already. Personally I want function as much as aesthetics. I think that's doable.

We haven't come to a final conclusion as to design so we haven't updated here. Essentially, M hood is being shipped to the factory for #1 OE style M hood #2 Vented style M hood. Since my hood is being shipped, I needed a hood for the upcoming track days.. I bought a non-m hood and started hacking it up for development/prototype purpose. We did a i8 style water fall center vent. The opening sits right on top of the radiator vents. Next week we are going to put foam/rubber strip around that opening and smoke test it. Hope to see this becomes functional and will create a downforce/vacuum with this center drop. If this works, then we will use this as a part of the design and add dual vent for heat extraction on the sides. Lots of pictures and discussion on our social media.

The problem is post-06 going to pre-06, most don't have a reason to do that except in my case.. 07M and bought a 03 hood for temp use and development I had to use hood pins. As for side hood vents, we will have these vents to be functional with placements that make sense for blower and other things since I track mine as well. The hardest part is to create the center vent that make sense and functional. If we can do something that Varis didn't do (create downforce), then it'll be a success in our eyes. We do want this to be functional and pleasing to the eyes as well.. not just a carbon fiber hood with a bunch of holes. Once we have a few designs in mind, we will also have you guys vote on them. So we can create something that most will love. This has been the Skyer way and many have participated in designing our products. Thank you all for all the support and we will continue to serve this chassis. Jordan

So if you want to grab the last set, go to the website. They're hard to ship for us and too expansive to make. Just a decision that had to be made. :
