Missed the Mark...?

FCP Euro thinks our beloved Zed is a miss.

Well, only 1815 were sold, so hard to argue. Wasn’t exactly a hit. The article doesn’t say anything derogatory about the car. The low production numbers make the car all the more unique and hopefully at some point a collectible.

Can't disagree with anything they wrote, but the "missed the mark" headline, that I might take issue with. That can certainly be said about sales numbers, but as for the car itself, I think it succeeded wildly at being what the engineers sought to build. It just wasn't a sales success for a number of reasons, and in THAT regard, it definitely missed the mark.

“Missed the mark” more aptly pertains to the target market that bought something other than a Z4M.

The car itself was perfect .

If the only yardstick is units produced, the Z4M's missing the mark allows it to join a revered group of vehicles remembered for what remarkable cars they were...not how many were produced. Cars like the '36 Cord 810, the '56 Continental, the '63 Avanti, and the '08 CTS-V...each of them great vehicles, each of them sales flops.

Sports cars were a tough sell if anyone remembers what was going on in the markets worldwide during the 2006-2008 time frame.

FWIW car seems to be well appreciated now, as with a few other on the list. Click bait.

Rowdy? Wild and wonderful? YES! In their own words- hardly a miss I'd say...
