Morally speaking, should this seller be responsible?

Dude... It's an online sale, not a vendor or business. It's your job to make sure you're getting the RIGHT part. It's always buyer beware and all sales final on the internet. You take risk assuming you're saving some $. Lots of times it doesn't work out, through no fault or intent on either party. But trying to make the seller responsible for your mistake and lack of diligence is just silly. As noted above, re-sell it, cut your loses and move on! Next time buy it from a bonafide vendor that you can ask questions with and ensure you're getting the right part!

I'm reading this on X3 postings. I've never bought anything from the bimmerpost online sales, but maybe it's NOT in a specific G20 section?

It does work on G20 cars, unlike what you said. So seller sold it in the right spot. You just happen to need the 3-wire version since you have a 340i. Sell it to a 330i owner. Or in the G42 forum to a 230i owner. Or to a Mini/FWD BMW 235i owner.

Also, didn't you say he said "all sales final"? I thought that implied you asked him to accept a return already. Is this not the case?

That website is tricky. If you use the drop down box, it gives you 4 options. The vehicle fitment list basically lists all cars that can take advantage of the JB+, but does not go into specially which needs the 3/4 wire version. The drop down sort of does but indeed, I didn't really look into it. Like I said, it was listed in the G20 forum so I automatically assumed it would fit.

In his ad, he didn't say all sales final. He just told me via messaging when I told him it's not the correct one for my car.

I guess I'll see if I can sell it myself...

The obvious solution here would be to buy another Bimmer that is compatible and tune THAT sumamubitch.
