04 totalled, upgraded to an 06
So i bought an 04 2.5 in June, had it for 2 months and was hit from behind on my way to work. I just changed the struts, replaced the top motor, relocated it to the trunk, full tune up. Fought with the insurance on replacement cost. I made out and picked up an 06 3.0 6spd. Remus exhaust, Godspeed coil overs, manual top and seats. The car is clean. I am going to raise it 1/2 inch all the way around.

Good lord that was no fender bender! What did it feel like inside the car? I would imagine much more violent than a car with backseats. Happy to see you picked up another one, looks great. Insurance with these cars is always a pain because they don't really take into account desirability, rarity and what they actually sell for. Get yourself checked out next!

The truck behind me moved to the middle lane, the Nissan Marano (2 months old) behind him didn't see traffic was stopped. He slammed on the brakes went into the guard rail and me. I was fine, went to work. I submitted $1300 in receipts and 9 ads of cars for sale All $2000 more then the first offer. Insurance payout is a negotiation.

I’m very glad that you were not seriously hurt and that you have been able to quickly find another Z4 that you like. It’s still sad to see your first Z beat up like that. I wonder if she can be saved from the scrap heap.

Glad you were not seriously injured! You're right, insurance payout is a negotiation. I did the same when my STi was totaled, to my benefit.
Nice looking replacement. I can't quite tell if it's a facelift car but if it is an N52 you can swap the intake manifold, add a tune, and get another 50HP. Not very common for a NA engine! |

How do you like the N52 vs. the M54?

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

This. And it is awful this happened. And to have had it happen and so soon. That is devastating. Trying to find the silver lining here by saying if it was going to happen anyway at least it happened early so you didn't get too attached...
Plus top motor relocated to the trunk?? Is this a common mod on this forum?? Assume its to avoid the clogged top drain issue causing it to be submerged? Cost and level of difficulty please and does it take up room away from cargo. |
