hmmm... i'm seriously considering it....
few questions.....

1. i'm guessing the car is not useable while the card is out for flashing.
2. is the flash customized per ones mods? example; i have the RPI scoops and remus exhaust.
3. assuming i were to overnight it each way, when can i expect it back? seems best case would be three days.
4. what happens to my car if somehow it was lost or damaged? am i screwed?

tnx

1. Yes you're correct.
2. The DME will adjust and adapt to different mods.
3. If you shipped it out on Monday via over-night, you'd get it back on Wednesday.
4. Not exactly sure of this. But I think you'd have to buy a new DME and then have the dealer program it to mate with your VIN.

Insure it when you ship it if its lost then you would need to buy a new one. Have never seen this happen BTW but it could happen I guess.

Didn't even think about it getting lost, that would really suck.

my fears exactly.... over the past several months i cannot believe how many packages UPS and FEDEX have lost or damaged.... it's out of control. so i am more than a bit worried. and if they did lose it, i'd have top wait for them to go through one of their BS investigations and then process the claim... i don't even want to imagine it. that said, would it make sense to buy an extra DME and send it out? but would i need to get it programmed at my BMEW dealer first? or could it go direct to ESS? anyone have a clue what a DME goes for? i'm guessing this idea will make no $$$ense.

DME's are around $1,300 so its not a inexpensive spare.

So today is the 20th, and only 3 commits. I think it looks like this discount is going to slip through our fingers

Come on guys, get off the fence. Time to give you and your car a present

Don't press the panic button, just relax or buy it at full price.

There are definitely a few mods I want to get done before I leave the country and this is one of them. But I'm not putting my name on the list until I can actually afford to do it, and if it becomes a waiting game, I'll just get it done FP.

I feed bad as I was in the original 2nd group buy list, but had to back out.

The past few weeks have been death for me; in addition to not having any job security (lots of layoffs, already lost one job), I am likely not getting much of a bonus (big part of comp) and have lost a crap load of money on the market. The cost of the DME is still good, but I cannot justify it as I have a vacation planned soon as well.

Will hold tight until next spring. I hope you guys find someone else, or that they do it.

Well the deadlines was kind of self imposed. We never got 5 people. I assume they would still do it if we got 5 people, but the bag economy seems to have everyone tight with the fun money.

Think this would make a good winter project (since the car won't be used much during this time anyway, so no rush to get the DME out and back). Received my RPI ram air kit today with drop in filter. That BMS Stage 2 exhaust looks tempting too, although would prefer the Stage 3 if they market that piece.

Hope the price will be the same around Christmas. Mrs. Santa might come calling...

Those of you who are ready to buy the ESS software with the group buy, why not just buy it without the GB and get it now? It's only $100. Shouldn't have been a big deal. If you can't EASILY make $100 after a few hours of work, you really shouldn't have bought a Z4M in the first place.

maybe people have other priorities and that 100 dollars could have gone to their kids or could have been another date night or dinner with their families...

It's not the money, it's the fact that as Americans we want everything for nothing. And we know we could have or still have it at a lower price, so therefore that's want we're programmed to want to pay.
