Anyone and everyone is invited to the dragon as a part of a group drive some time in early April. Still in the early stages but updates are soon to come and will be posted here.

Perhaps it might be better to do this in early May, to avoid any potentially bad weather and so that the drive is "greener" and more scenic ???

Let me know what you guys think.

I ran it twice and the last run missed a sportbike that was across the double yellow by maybe 5 feet. Also the locals were spilling vegatable oil on the road. Just insane. I go to the track!

Yeah that would be the best weekend for me too; so then the plan is for the weekend of May 3-4th.

My sis's graduation is in mid-May too. If you don't mind me asking is it your graduation?

best time during the summer is in the middle of the week. Other than that, too crowded. And late April is packed on the last weekend but early may is less crowded.

Does the weather tend to be bad in March on the TOTD? I am planning the run on 3/21 after my PCD on 3/20.

according to the weather section of http://www.tailofthedragon.com , it is supposed to be storming the 20th thru the 24th of march.

The last weekend in March/first weekend in April will be a MINI Cooper weekend on the Dragon. It will be a crowded weekend. May already be too late to get hotels there.

it may have to be pushed back later. This is only day 2 of the planning of this meet, and an official date has not been set yet.

I would love to do this. Nailing down a date in early May or before would be critical for my participation... I'm getting married at the end of May! After that, honeymoon and such, so this may be my last big chance to kill myself before tying the knot.

JHastings, where / who else is planning this? I would like to be involved.

Been doing some more planning. Apparently, there are going to be two other groups at the dragon during the weekend of may 3-4. An Audi group and the 6th annual Mini's run.

The good news is that the Audi group will be be on the Blue Ridge Skyway to avoid the Mini's!

As for the Mini's it looks like as long as we run the dragon in the morning we should be okay. It might even be nice to check out there cars as well. Once we finish the Dragon we could head out onto the Cherhola Skyway, in the afternoon after lunch.

Also, I was thinking if enough people are interested we could stay overnight and do some additional runs on Sunday, and explore the other less traveled roads. I know this may not be feasible for those coming from far away, so the main runs would remain on Saturday. Jut a thought.

Anyway, all and any feedback would be appreciated!

thanks DocRiSK, sounds good. If enough people show then a mass hotel reservation would be feasable if they give us a group discount.
