How was the installation on the Eventuri piece? I am thinking of swapping out the AFE intake for it to improve aesthetics - doubt the noise/volume will change.

The installation is relatively simple, but be careful about the air tube pinching the secondary water pump connector wires. The the issue I ran into on this thread => http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthre...light=eventuri

Thanks for the compliments on the strut bar! It is a great piece. Credit and big thanks to F360C for coordinating/developing/testing the race brace with Rogue Engineering

I here you on the more detailed entries. I will go back and add photos and/or create new entries to the Journal. Especially the items people are interested in.
Let me know if you have any sepcific photos you are looking for. I have a bunch

It definitely improve aesthetics in my opinion; A nice piece of CF artwork under the engine bay.

The installation is pretty straight forward. There are a couple of areas to pay attention to as XMetal mentioned and linked in an above post.
I also modified the installation a little bit to clean things up and create more clearance in the "problem area."

Thank you!

A buddy picked this up 3+/- years ago from Platte Forme. I lucked out and bought it from him in perfect mint condition for this build.

Not sure if they can still source the euro OE stuff our not.

Evolve Tune & Airbox Kit

One of the best sounds on the planet... An S54 with a carbon airbox

Had been planning to wait on this step due to tune issues and cost involved, but then Evolve ran a killer promotion on their complete kits. At the same time Evolve was running their promotion, it seemed they had also corrected the issues with the Z4M tune. Needless to say, I jumped in on the group buy & was very happy to have these parts in the garage. Once again, shipping was fast and the customer service was top notch.

Is there a difference with the Euro front and USDM?

Can't wait to see this car come together. You've got to bring it out to Cali for something. Please shoot me a PM if you ever bring it to EAS again, I work just around the corner from them and would love to see this in person.

PF may be done but I think Toan might still have a Z4M VRS diffuser (I know he did around Bimmerfest time). Not sure if you've already got something going on in for the rear though. If you don't have the contact info to get in touch shoot me a PM and I can find out for you.

Have you installed & had success with the Evolve tune? Can't say I was happy with it, lost HP from stock and developed an odd acceleration dip under hard throttle as it was pulling timing. My newer tune is a bit better (still has same issue in certain situations) but I've been yet to make it back to the dyno, but it would be helpful knowing of other success stories.

RE: Euro bumper.
The euro bumper does not have the orange circle reflectors

RE: Evolve tune.
I have been running their latest tune for 3000 +/- miles. Just took the car on a road trip to CA for Historic week
I can't give a full review as I haven't had any dynos or track time.
That said I have pushed the car on several spirited drives and haven't had any issues.

OE, Supersprint, Rogue Engineering & RPI Muffler Comparison

Took advantage of having multiple sets of mufflers in the garage to do side by side comparisons. The sound & build characteristics was unique to each brand.
We all have or have had OE to compare at some point, so I won't get into the pros/cons there.

Rogue El diablo
Pros:
  • Beautiful build quality, nicest welds of the bunch
  • Embossed logo
  • Nice loud raw sound, but less loud/aggressive than the RPI GT mufflers
  • Good tip size. Bigger than OE, but no danger of beating up the bumper cutouts
Cons:
  • Sagging balls issue. Bummer on lowered cars because these bad boys hang just as low as OE
  • 2nd worst drone levels of the buch

RPI GT
Pros:
  • Best tip configuration IMO. Follows the curve of the bumper better than any.
  • Best exhaust sound IMO. Raw motsport carnage to put it mildly. Screaming Harpies upon accellaration + glorious burbles and pops upon downshifting/decellaration all to make you feel like you are driving a real race car
  • Lightest by far
  • Good build quality
Cons:
  • Worst drone of the bunch
  • No off switch. Always 100% raw

Supersprint Powerloop
Pros:
  • Drone is basically none existent
  • Most amount of available adjustment during installation
  • Running these mufflers highlight the engine noise rather than drowning it out
  • Good build quality
  • Subtle deep tone
Cons:
  • A little on the quite side
  • Though they look good, the rolled tip design is not as nice looking as Rogue and RPI tip construction IMO
  • Very little weight savings. Mainly an aesthetic and sound upgrade from OE

CSL Airbox by Karbonius & Evolve Alpha N Tune/Conversion Kit

In a bit of a last minute change before installation, I switched from the Evolve Airbox to a 1x1 weave Karbonius CSL replica airbox. With both, the quality and aesthetics were top notch. I ended up switching because I liked the idea of using OE CSL filters and fell in love the the look of the 1x1 weave.

Pros:
  • Sound Glorious Sound!
  • Perfect fitment since the replica was Laser/3D modeled after the OE CSL box
  • Easy to source OE filters, boots, clamp etc
  • Evolves conversion kit included everything need to make the switch easy

Cons:
  • New AIT sensor install and OE MAF sensor removal make reversal a little tough
  • Causes the unnecessary upper RPM driving just for the sheer pleasure of hearing those throttle bodies growl!

Sparco Ring / NRG Short Hub / NRG Quick Release

Have always loved the BMW Motorsport D-Ring wheel. This and the Momo mod 88 are the closest I have found. Really enjoy the look and feel of this wheel

Pros:
  • Easier to get in and out with steering wheel removed
  • Better feel in hand IMO
  • Enhanced steering response with slightly smaller wheel

Cons:
  • Loss of steering wheel buttons/controls other than the horn
  • Dealing with airbag/airbag light
  • Modifications to wire horn and make short hub fit are tough to reverse

This threads going to make me eat a ton of popcorn!

Really making me miss my old Z4M!

Should I make the switch from my 997.1 C2S back to Z4M?

If you have to ask yourself that question, you already know the answer.
