Testing the waters
I got in touch with slek designs and he's willing to produce the trunk if we can get at least 5 people to commit.
OEM is 46lbs without the glass. The CF trunk is 26lbs.

The prices
1200 fiberglass
2000 single sided carbon
2400 double sided carbon

I will get more info such as lead time if this moves forward.

Here is a video of someone installing the trunk

Definitely interested. But maybe we can work on pricing a little better depending on how many people we have interested.

I doubt we will get more than 5. I will try posting on FB too.

Is this with the integrated duckbill or just a stock looking piece that weighs less?

What is the difference between:

$2000 single sided carbon
$2400 double sided carbon ?

I'm interested in the GB if it happens.

For what you're getting, I think the price point is pretty good.
I would be interested in the double carbon lid.
My only hesitation is the duck bill. This will interfer with my wing mount. I suppose I could work around it, but would prefer a stock shape.

Unfortunately I beleive they won't be able to make one without the lip since I assume they need a new mold?

You should also post this in the classified/group buy section.

If you get one of these I'd be interested in your factory hatch - assuming it's not an absolute bonkers for freight.

If by chance they do end up making a mold without the molded lip I'd be interested in that. I'd actually want single-sided CF on the inside. I'd want to paint the outside body colour but wanna have the weave show on the inside.

Don't you guys think having the lip is better aerodynamic? The lip is intended to cause less drag no?

Good point, I was more concerned with needing to modify my wing mounts but I suppose if there is an aero benefit, I can change my mind. I guess you can put me on the fence.

I have friends who have aftermarket CF trunk for s2000 and they do just fine...but for the piece of mind, i would reinforce with some aluminum plates underneath the hatch.

Don't you have the apr base?
I beleive you don't need to modify to fit the apr ones.

The lip starts where the apr base ends.
