There sure are a ton of dealers in that area. Should be able to find someone highly competent!

I just got a quote on Thursday from Vic at The Werk Shop http://thewerkshop.com/ in Libertyville. They are a serious BMW specialty indie shop. They do great work.

$500-$600 plus the cost of gasket/shims/etc.

No problem. I just picked up my Z4MR last week and it's torture waiting for a warm day...

@intoflatlines....let me know when you get it done and if you'll notice any difference how the engine runs.
I just did an oil change yesterday (I ordered oil, filter and air cleaner online)
worked very well.
cheers

I was going to ask you the same

I'll get it done, but it probably won't be for a couple weeks at the very earliest.

Back in December I received a quote from "VS Motorports" in Schaumburg for

valve adjustment 340.00
and valve cover gasket for 85.00
Total: 425

Unfortunately, they might have folded just recently. Too bad, I should have done it then.

How many miles do you have?

27K miles. I wish I was more mechanically inclined, then I'd just spend $400 or whatever on the tools/parts and do it myself (it honestly doesn't look too hard).

Never heard of VS Motorsports but the place that I got the quote from does really good work in general. We had our very low mileage E30 up there over the summer for some major interior/HVAC work.
