DKF S-Pipe + Resonators

Looking to fine tune sound for now and have the ability to run cats/relocated O2 bungs in the future

Pros:
  • Optional straight pipe, resonated, or catted section
  • Some weight savings with the resonators
  • Resonators add a subtle growl to the exhaust note

Cons:
  • Initial installation requires a bit of massaging
  • Unknown company status for purpose of warranty and/or repair (I think they might be done with this stuff)

Brembo 6/4 GT BBK

I was planning to run Stoptech or PFC, then had the opportunity to grab the Brembo GT kit from a fellow enthusiast. The kit was in great condition with low miles, so I decided to give it a go. In terms of aesthetics and cooling performance, this kit has been a huge improvement over stock. For the Pros/Cons list, I will highlight/compare some of the differences between this kit and my previous Stoptech kit

Pros:
  • The monoblock rotors look great!
  • The monoblock rotors are light.
  • Improved braking performance through improved cooling.
  • Easy caliper removal thanks to mounting bracket design.

Cons:
  • Replacement parts are expensive.
  • Switching pads is much better/easier with Stoptechs design.
  • I prefer Stoptech balanced braking bias with matching front/rear rotor sizes.
  • Higher likelihood of damaging caliper finish when performing pad swaps compared to Stoptech

Haven't run this kit long enough to formulate a complete comparison. The kit works well and looks great! If I were to do this mod again, I would likely go with Stoptech due to the ease of swapping brake pads and the "feel" of their balanced braking bias. That said, this kit may grow on me

Sweet kit mate, loving where this is headed. Good stuff. Review required when you have some miles on it.

Roadtrip / Parts Run: VRS Cooling Bonnet + Rear Diffuser System

Bit the bullet and ordered the VRS cooling bonnet, VSDC & the VRS rear diffuser system 1&2, carbon
After 6 looooooong months, I got the e-mail from Bulletproof Automotive, "Your parts are ready for pick-up."

Picked up a small trailer from U-Haul and prepared for the parts run. Left at 1200 the next morning wide awake with adrenaline and anticipation. Many thoughts racing through my mind. Excited that the parts finally arrived! Concerned that they might have damage from transport. Will I get back soon enough to install the parts the same day?

When I started the journey Google let me know I was 6hrs 19mins away. Turns out google has a funny sense of humor, because every 60 miles or so it would update me by adding time to the trip; Really gave the feeling of standing still After 10.5 hours, I arrived!

The guys at Bulletproof gave a tour of their shop. A ton of Sema build items and carbon fiber fabrication going on! Very cool shop and people. They had the parts ready for me to load up. Before loading, I unpacked inspected and repacked. Good news, no damage and parts look great!

Carefully and quickly packed the items for travel, and began the journey home. After 6 month & a 21 hour road trip, the parts were finally in the garage!

On a side note - I've seen vented hoods on a lot of cars, I can't help but wonder how do you (or anyone) keep your engine bay from getting wet when washing the car? Is my answer going to be: "because racecar - no washing"?

Hood comes with vent covers that mount to the underside with hex bolts

So the covers will cap shut those vents? My brain still cannot comprehend how water won't get through those very functional vents. Maybe the covers are only installed when washing? Sorry about the "nooobe" questions - curious minds wants to know

BTW - love your builds. Thanks for posting all the details

Same principle as eavestroughing
It's a drainage containment on the underside.

XMetal I will post some photos so you can check it out. As inTgr8r pointed out, they act as a collection point draining toward the front. Will only use them in the rain and when washing the car.

Thanks EMP07 ,
splitter/under tray may be a little boring. Building new shape out of light weight rigid plastic material. It will replace the lower engine cover and add for end downforce. Also designed to be disposable/sacrificial to protect the VRS parts.

Build started about a year and half ago. Slow going at first due to work schedule.

Thanks Beedub !

Yes, the cooling bonnet is their top option for construction. VSDC stands for Varis Some Dry Carbon. Went with standard carbon for rear diffuser sytstem. Strange thing is sys. 1 is visible carbon fiber & system 2 is black on the outside. I was surprised by this. Doesn't really matter since it's not visible, just not what I had anticipated.
Working on detail photos and weight comparisons today. I hope to test fit before the end of the weekend.
