Hammy and Max both had clear air for most of the race but the rating indicates the RBR remains a bit more twitchy while hammy can drive the Merc blindfolded.

Merc seems to have plenty of room to trade some stability for top speed assuming the tire degradation isn’t an issue and Hammy is ok with using the steering wheel a bit more.

Interesting data points.

Perez is incredibly busy keeping the RBR pointed in the right direction.

LeCrash, Ricciardo and Alonso remain late braking kings.

Ricciardo is tentative on the throttle compared to Lando.

Alonso and Perez are the only drivers rated 9+ for throttle, steering and brake work.

Hammy and LeCrash pinned the throttle all race with a 10 rating. Stroll came in at 9.9.

Yuki has one speed — 10/10. Max aggressive.
Really interesting stuff. Rain was forecasted for last weekend, yeah? Maybe Merc betting on it with a high downforce package. Setting up for the same dilemma this weekend.

RB not an easy drive.

What I found strange is that I saw Hamilton having to make steering corrections last race due to oversteer (his wheels even got on the grass) but nothing points to that in that data.

And lately he also complains about grip/traction.
Maybe I don't interpret the data correctly.

I remember that, it was a good catch. Must have been one of his only major corrections.

As for his radio transmissions, I don't find anything HAM says over the radio credible. Haven't for a while now. Believe it's mostly for opponent consumption.

Complaining of grip/traction while not working the steering wheel and using almost max brake and throttle, he wasn't having traction issues.

It's just what Honda does, bounce out at the peak (Brawn GP anyone?).

F1 sprint winner will be officially credited with pole position

"Formula 1 boss Ross Brawn has revealed that qualifying sprint event winners will be regarded in the history books as having earned pole position for that weekend's grand prix."

If you watch the in car camera POV, hammy adjustments pale in comparison to the rest of the field. The steering score is the number of inputs a driver makes on their steering wheel. From full lock left to full lock right, each input is measured on a sliding scale, with the differences then averaged out to provide a base total, which is then indexed against the averages for the entire field. A high score indicates a driver ‘sawing’ or making numerous adjustments, while a low score reflects a far smoother series of inputs on the wheel.

Hammy just 1.0 steering adjust? More throttle and cornering than Max shows W12 is sliding back.

TBH I don't really see it.
This is a video comparison for the pole lap:

The only thing I suspect is that VER might be driving with a slightly smaller steering ratio.
but if I look how they're steering, I can't see the one being on the 10 side of the scale and the other one on 1.

And that both MERC cars sitting so low and the rest so high I wonder if it isnt sensor glitch related. so that MERC data is different than the rest.
I also don't see much difference with BOT.

So I don't know what to make of it except that VER was obviously fastest by quite a margin on his pole lap for such a short track.

where does that data come from and is the raw data also available or do they give the formula how they come up with that end number?
Without that there's no telling what the number actually/precisely means or how it came to be.

Not this weekend but Brands Hatch will be later on in the year for the last BTCC meet and hopefully title decider; Silverstone F1 will be on my 65'' box

Lets see if those will give him the extra performance.

As it stands now, things are still so close that no one can predict who will win this years championship.
Things are so close that only 1 or 2 DNF in the rest of the season (and the season is still long) can give the edge to either to win the championship.

I'm just glad that for once in a very long time we have a championship year that is exciting and that there's close racing again (albeit still only between 2 teams)
Having one team basically dominating the sport for almost a decade made me at least less of a fan in that timespan. It's not good for the sport if you already know who's going to win at the end of the year.
I guess that's the main reason why I'm a VER fan. He was the one that broke that broke that era. And with a spectacular driving style

It'll give him a little more though I read somewhere it's nowhere near the 4/10's needed to gain on Max and RB seems comfortable to increase a little more the pace if needed to counteract.
